Pleasance Theatre Trust has added 95 new shows to its Edinburgh Fringe programme, featuring Tim Vine, Alex Edelman, and Flo & Joan among the highlights spanning comedy, theatre, and new writing.
TheatreWorks Silicon Valley continues its 51st season with the hit musical Ragtime. This sweeping and stirring musical masterpiece paints a portrait of America at the dawn of the twentieth century, interweaving the lives of three families—an African American family, a Jewish Immigrant family, and a wealthy white family—finding their places and pursuing the American Dream in a rapidly changing world. Featuring a Tony Award-winning book by Pulitzer Prize finalist Terrence McNally (Master Class, Kiss of the Spider Woman, The Rink) and a Tony Award-winning score by Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens (Once on This Island, Anastasia, Seussical The Musical), this musical is based on E. L. Doctorow’s best-selling novel of the same name. Ragtime will be presented June 1-26, 2022 (press opening: June 4) at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts. Tony Award Nominee Daniel Jenkins (Oslo, Kid Victory, Big River, Mary Poppins) and Drama Desk Nominee Melissa van der Schyff (Big River, Bonnie & Clyde) are teaming up to perform at Le Poisson Rouge (LPR) in a creatively refreshing concert, 'BORROWED CASH: BUSTED! The Reunion Tour' on Saturday, January 21 and Sunday, January 22 at 8:00 PM. The concert - performed completely in alter ego, blending comedy and documentary film within a live rock and blues concert setting - is directed by Gina Rattan (Matilda, Cinderella) with Jesse Weiner serving as music director and arranger.
Broadway fans had plenty of reasons to celebrate this year, with dozens of shows having opened since January, hundreds of actors having made their debuts, and many more having returned to the stage for critically acclaimed performances.
