Celebrating its 10th anniversary season, this May at the Hudson Guild Theatre (441 West 26th Street), the White Horse Theater Company is presenting an exciting new production of Marsha Norman's Pulitzer Prize-winning play 'night, Mother starring Broadway veteran Joy Franz as Thelma, with Laura Siner playing daughter Jessie (who previously starred in White Horse's acclaimed In The Bar of a Tokyo Hotel). The production will run through May 19 and features direction from White Horse's Producing Artistic Director Cyndy A. Marion, who has staged a bold, visually alluring version of the dramatic work, heightening the theatricality and sharpening the focus on Jessie's looming bedroom door. (more...)

BROADWAY BACKWARDS is a one-night-only performance produced by Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and benefiting BC/EFA and The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center of New York. Now in its eighth year, BROADWAY BACKWARDS is an annual celebration where gays and lesbians see their stories onstage, told through the great songs of musical theatre, sung by their favorite Broadway performers.

Taking place Monday nights from 6pm to 9pm when theaters are dark, Understudies & Swing(er)s features the talented understudy and swing performers of popular Broadway shows who have not yet been featured in starring roles on the Great White Way. Kittin Withawhip (So You Think You Can Drag, The Ultimate Drag Off, Last Comic Standing) hosted the opening night of Boylesque!, a new all-male burlesque revue at the new Lucky Cheng's Drag Cabaret in Times Square. Christine Pedi (Newsical) headlined the opening night line-up, joined by Reyscandalo De La Verga (Broadway After Dark, RENT), Jake Haynie (Broadway After Dark, SMASH), Darrel T. Joe (Damn Yankees, National Tour), Michael McArthur (A Chorus Line at Paper Mill Playhouse, Newsies at Paper Mill Playhouse, Radio City Christmas Spectacular, SMASH), and Matt Anctil (La Cage Aux Folles, Broadway Beauty Pageant). Boylesque! is set to play Wednesdays at 11:00pm. Lucky Cheng's is located at 240 West 52nd Street.

Photo Blast from the Past: Cy Coleman with Bob Fosse and Juliet Prowse

Today, we're featuring Cy Coleman with Bob Fosse and Juliet Prowse in 1981. Fosse won an unprecedented eight Tony Awards for choreography, as well as one for direction. He was nominated for an Academy Award four times, winning for his direction of Cabaret. Amongst his many Broadway credits are The Pajama Game, Damn Yankees, Sweet Charity, Pippin, Chicago, Dancin' and many more. Coleman's career as a Broadway composer began when he and Leigh collaborated on Wildcat (1960), which marked the Broadway debut of comedienne Lucille Ball. U's school songs, 'Hey, Fightin' Tigers.' When Ball became ill, she left the show, and it closed. Next for the two was Little Me, with a book by Neil Simon based on the novel of the same name by Patrick Dennis. Prowse starred in such films as including The Fiercest Heart (1961) and Who Killed Teddy Bear? (1965) with Sal Mineo and Elaine Stritch. (more...)

FEINSTEIN'S AT LOEWS REGENCY will continue its Fall 2012 season with the return engagement of Tony Award-winning actress and singer Betty Buckley. In an exclusive four-week run, Ms. Buckley premieres her new collection of songs "The Other Women: The Vixens of Broadway." She will perform highlights from some of Broadway's most popular shows, but will celebrate the second female leads, who have introduced classics like "When You're Good to Mama" (Chicago), Another Suitcase In Another Hall (Evita), "I Know Things Now (Into the Woods), "Ribbons Down My Back" (Hello, Dolly!), "Whatever Lola Wants" (Damn Yankees) and "The Miller's Son" (A Little Night Music). Ms. Buckley - who will be joined by Christian Jacob on piano, Tony Marino on bass, Vic Juris on guitar and Todd Isler on drums - will also feature a selection from her new CD Ah Men! The Boys of Broadway, from Palmetto Records, which is based on last year's acclaimed Feinstein's show. "The Other Woman: The Vixens of Broadway" will run through October 27 at the Loews Regency Hotel (540 Park Avenue at 61st Street).

Emmy Award-winning actor Sean Hayes (NBC's "Will & Grace") will guest star in a multi-episode arc on NBC's SMASH as Terrence Falls, a comedic television and film star who is making his Broadway debut in the musical "Liaisons," based on the novel "Les Liaisons Dangereuses." Due to a series of comic circumstances, he becomes a major thorn in the side for Ivy Lynn (Megan Hilty) and other characters.
