Broadway enthusiasts and stars alike flocked to New York City's famed theatre district Sunday for the 30th Annual Broadway Flea Market & Grand Auction (#broadwayflea), produced by and benefiting Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.The biggest day of the year for Broadway fans celebrated all things theatre with offerings of unique Broadway treasures, unforgettable theatrical experiences and more than 70 stars. BroadwayWorld.com was on hand for the day and captured all of the celebrities as they signed autographs in the BC/EFA photo booth.

CARRIE, the cult rock musical based on Stephen King's breakout novel will bow in Vancouver this fall at the Jericho Arts Centre. The production marks the show's Canadian regional premier, led by a cast of rising Vancouver talents. The musical features music by Michael Gore, and lyrics byDean Pitchford, who collaborated on the score for FAME. Lawrence D. Cohen supplies the show's book, after previously adapting the screenplay for the original film version of the tale (directed by Brian DePalma).

Today's edition features the late Laurie Beechman with her Theatre World Award in 1982. Beechman made her Broadway debut in the original cast of ANNIE, and later starred as 'The Narrator' in the original cast of JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT, scoring a Tony nod for her work. She also starred in PIRATES OF PENZANCE, CATS, LES MISERABLES, CARRIE, and more. After a long battle with ovarion cancer, Beechman died in 1988 at the age of 44.
Betty Buckley, currently appearing in London's DEAR WORLD, reunited with some special guests recently: her CARRIE co-star Linzi Hateley and lyricist Dean Pitchford. The actress shared the reunion on Instagram, writing: 'Dean Pitchford, Linzi Hateley & me last night at dinner after 'Dear World.'
Ghostlight Records released the long-awaited cast recording of Carrie: The Musical yesterday, September 25, 2012, preserving the recent MCC Theater (Robert LuPone, Bernard Telsey, William Cantler, Artistic Directors; Blake West, Executive Director) Off-Broadway revival. Just yesterday, the cast gathered at Barnes & Noble to celebrate the release with a special performance and CD signing. Ghostlight Records this week went into the recording studio with the cast of Carrie, to record the first-ever cast album. Release dates for the album will be announced at a later time. The cast recording of Carrie will be produced by the show's composer Michael Gore alongside multi-Grammy Award-winner Joel Moss, with Ghostlight Records' Kurt Deutsch serving as Executive Producer.

The musical Carrie made her return eagerly awaiting return to New York City last night after the show's notoriously short 1988 run on Broadway. This brand new and revised production, now playing at the Lucille Lortel Theatre (121 Christopher Street), has already extended its run, and will now play performances through April 22, 2012.
