Feinstein's/54 Below presented a priceless evening of songs and stories with actor/author Ron Fassler telling his own personal tales of Broadway from his new book Up In The Cheap Seats, a chronicle of the time when he saw more than 200 Broadway shows as a teenager, all for as little as $2.

It's 1924, on the Greek island of Crete, and you're about to go on a wild, whirlwind tour of the lusty passions of the human heart.

OUT OF THE MOUTHS OF BABES -- a new comedy by Israel Horovitz (MY OLD LADY), with a cast starring Oscar winner and 5-time Tony nominee ESTELLE PARSONS, two-time Tony winner JUDITH IVEY, along with ANGELINA FIORDELLISI (ZORBA on Broadway opposite Anthony Quinn) and FRANCESCA CHOY-KEE (DISGRACED) - begins rehearsals May 12 prior to the start of previews June 7 and opening June 19, in a world-premiere production by Cherry Lane Theatre (38 Commerce St.) in Greenwich Village. On Monday, April 9, Broadway stars Karen Mason and Brent Barrett thrilled a packed house with an evening of Kander & Ebb showstoppers at Birdland! The concert, titled 'Sing Happy,' was a celebration of all things K&E, and included some of the writing duo's most famous anthems ('New York, New York' and 'Maybe This Time') as well as a few lesser-known pieces ('Life Is' from Zorba and 'Skin of Your Teeth' from Over and Over).

ENTER LAUGHING, The Musical, the hilarious Broadway-bound production, is now in rehearsal at the New 42nd Street Studios. The first preview is August 9. A limited number of 'Pay What You Can' tickets will be available on that date after 2 pm at the Box Office. The show runs through September 4. The show features a book by the legendary Joseph Stein (Fiddler on the Roof, Zorba), music and lyrics by Stan Daniels ('The Mary Tyler Moore Show,' 'Taxi').

As BroadwayWorld reported yesterday, legendary theater writer Joseph Stein passed away yesterday, October 24, 2010 at the age of 98 according to those who have recently worked with him. Stein leaves behind the musicals Fiddler on the Roof, Zorba, and Mr. Wonderful, to name a few.

Featuring one of the last scores by the lengendary Tony Award-winning songwriting team of Kander and Ebb (CHICAGO, CABARET, ZORBA) and a book by multiple Tony Award-winner Rupert Holmes (DROOD; SAY GOODNIGHT, GRACIE), CURTAINS is set backstage in 1959 at Boston's Colonial Theatre during the pre-Broadway tryout of a new musical. When the hapless leading lady is murdered on opening night during the curtain call, Lt. Frank Cioffi is called in to investigate and the entire company and creative team become suspects. But the lure of the theater proves irresistible and after an unexpected romance blooms for the stage-struck detective, he finds himself just as drawn toward making the show a hit as he is in solving the murder. What unfolds becomes not only a 'whodunit' murder mystery, but also a fun, witty and tuneful musical within a musical, sure to delight audiences of all ages. THE BILBAO EFFECT, a world-premiere play that puts contemporary architecture on trial, written by Oren Safdie (whose previous play about architecture, PRIVATE JOKES, PUBLIC PLACES, was a hit Off-Broadway in 2003) will be presented Off-Broadway with an official press opening night on May 16, 2010 at Center for Architecture (536 LaGuardia Place) in Manhattan. THE BILBAO EFFECT will run Wednesday through Saturday at 8PM through June 5.

Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's masterpiece Into the Woods opens in previews at Kansas City Repertory Theatre September 11. Opening night is September 18; the show closes October 4. Tony Award nominee Moisés Kaufman directs.
