The Royal Shakespeare Company's Matilda The Musical has released new production images featuring the previously announced new cast of the multi-award winning show, which is now playing its eighth year in the West End having opened at the Cambridge Theatre seven years ago today on 25 October 2011.

Last night Tim Minchin paid a visit to Leicester Curve to watch Matilda: The Musical. Tim, who composed original songs for the musical, went to support the musical as it heads on its UK tour. After the show he enjoyed drinks with the cast and crew.

The Tony Award® winning Matilda the Musical will close on January 1, 2017, after playing 37 previews, 1,555 regular performances, and one Actors Fund performance. The production opened on April 11, 2013 (previews began March 4) at the Shubert Theatre (225 West 44th Street). The show just celebrated its 1500th performance and BroadwayWorld was on hand for the special day. Check out photos below!

MATILDA THE MUSICAL welcomes a new Miss Trunchbull tonight when Bryce Ryness takes over the role of the child-hurling headmistress of Crunchem Hall. Bryce Ryness joins the Broadway production after originating the role of the terrifying headmistress on MATILDA's first National tour.

Matilda Wormwood is a precocious five-year old who loves to read and has the ability to perform telekinesis. She also likes to meet life's obstacles. She comes from a family in which her father wanted a male child, so he calls her 'boy,' has a mother who didn't know she was pregnant and when Matilda came along was irritated because it interfered with Mrs. Wormwood entering dancing competitions and carrying on an affair with her dance instructor, and whose fellow students think she is odd because she likes school and knows all the answers.

A feisty little girl is still bringing audiences to their feet at the Shubert Theatre every night. Matilda the Musical, based on the beloved novel by best-selling author Roald Dahl, just reached a Broadway milestone yesterday, celebrating its third anniversary. New production images of the cast of the Royal Shakespeare Company's production of Matilda The Musical are now available. Evie Hone and Lizzie Wells have joined Anna-Louise Knight and Lara McDonnell in the title role, alongside Michael Begley (Mr Wormwood), Miria Parvin (Miss Honey) and Rebecca Thornhill (Mrs Wormwood). Craige Els will continue in the role of Miss Trunchbull. Matilda The Musical, which celebrates its 4th birthday on Sunday 25 October, is now booking at the Cambridge Theatre until 18 December 2016.

While Emily Blunt is seemingly everywhere, promoting her much acclaimed new film Sicario, her brother, Sebastian, is quietly in rehearsals for the upcoming staging of 'GATSBY'. The Arts Theatre plays host to the musical adaptation of Fitzgerald's iconic Jazz-Age novel from October 26th and throughout November on Monday nights, presented by Ruby In The Dust.

 MATILDA just celebrated its 1000th performance with who else, but creator Tim Minchin, for a special conversation at New World Stages. The producers of the Tony Award-winning Matilda The Musical announced last week that the original Broadway cast recording will be produced by Michael Croiter and Christopher Nightingale for Broadway Records/Yellow Sound Label and will be released digitally and be available at the Shubert Theatre beginning Friday, September 27, 2013. Tony Award winner Gabriel Ebert visited students at Broadway Artists Alliance Alumni Session to share his journey from young actor to Tony Award Winner.
