Photo Flash: New York Philharmonic Visits Istanbul, Zurich

Over the weekend Alan Gilbert and the New York Philharmonic performed in Istanbul, Turkey. The Orchestra's first appearance there in 18 years also offered an opportunity to catch some of the colorful capital's local flavor. Then the New York Philharmonic Principal Brass Quintet launched the return to Zurich - home of Credit Suisse, the Orchestra's Global Sponsor - with a free performance. Eva Longoria is Dorothy and her whole world has gone from black and white to brilliant technicolor. I am in love with the bright flowered back drop Ferragmo used as their step-and-repeat for their celebration of the iconic Vara heel. Everything about it is fresh, young, and whimsical, which are not words I would usually use to describe Ferragamo. The Italian luxury brand has been making a strong push to bring a younger clientele to there classic shoes, and I think they are on the right track. (more...)

Last night (Saturday, May 4), GRAMMY Award-nominated Fat Joe transformed LAX Nightclub located inside Luxor Hotel and Casino into a Cinco de Mayo bash to remember. Arriving after 1 a.m., the smooth Latino artist and his entourage made their way through the mega-club to their VIP booth where they settled in and relaxed by having a few drinks before Fat Joe took over the stage. Maryland Ensemble Theatre (MET) is wrapping up its 2012-13, 15th anniversary mainstage season with a new World Premiere comedy Pickle My Monkey beginning May 16. Like David Mamet teaming up with the Marx Brothers to write their own apocalyptic version of The Comedy of Errors, Pickle My Monkey is a truly surreal farce. Sexy, madcap, odd, and modern, the show featuring a loaded gun, a briefcase full of cash and a talking chimp, promises to be inventive, original, and fun! I know I just featured Zoe Saldana as my Fashion Photo but, come on, have you seen this picture?! She has once again pushed all fashion boundaries to a new place of awesome. I don't know how she does it, or how her stylist does it. They have set their own bar so high I don't know how her co-stars feel standing next to her. I would stress not only about my own outfit but about how my outfit would stack up next to Saldana. I am officially fashion-struck. (more...)

Fashion Photo of the Day 5/2/13 - Isla Fisher

I definitely have Gatsby fever! I cannot wait to see this film if just for the fashion and jewels alone. But I have to say, I was expecting some major fashion at last night's premiere and was a bit disappointed. Very little sparkle and not as much oomph as I would have liked. Unlike some of her co-stars, Isla Fisher, did glam it up and I for one am thrilled! (more...)

Hey BroadwayWorld.com! Hello from Pioneer Theatre Company in Salt Lake City, where we're deep in rehearsals for Les Miserables. This ever-popular musical is making a comeback - literally - and, no, I don't mean an uptick in ticket sales since the movie was released last December. PTC was the first regional theatre to produce Les Mis, in 2007, where it played for 10 sold-out weeks. So it's no surprise that we're here again, just six years later, bringing this amazing story to life. (more...)

Christine Baranski, Kelli Barrett, Walter Bobbie, Jeremy Cohen, Dalton Harrod, Randy Skinner, Shonn Wiley, Karen Ziemba, New York City Ballet Principal dancer Joaquin De Luz and American Ballet Theatre principal dancer Irina Dvorovenko will star in Rodgers and Hart's On Your Toes, the final Encores! presentation of the 2012-13 New York City Center season. Directed and choreographed by Warren Carlyle. On Your Toes will have guest music direction by Encores! founding music director Rob Fisher and will play seven performances, from May 8 - 12 at New York City Center, W. 55th Street (between 6th and 7th Avenues). The "Slaughter on Tenth Avenue" ballet, originally choreographed by George Balanchine, will be staged by Susan Pilarre, who served as a Ballet Mistress of the show's 1983 Broadway Revival. (more...)
