Adam Szymkowicz has been carving a niche for himself among our best young crop of comedy writers, describing love affairs of many kinds with an admirable simplicity. His latest work, 'The Why Overhead,' will have its premiere run September 6 to 23, presented by Zootopia Theatre Company at Access Theater, 380 Broadway. The piece imagines what happens in the office while the boss is away. Matthew J. Nichols directs a cast of 12, which includes Susan Louise O'Connor, a Theatre World Award winner for 'Blythe Spirit' on Broadway. Get a first look at the production in the photos below!

The Tony Award-winning Hartford Stage, under the leadership of Darko Tresnjak, Artistic Director, and Michael Stotts, Managing Director, presents William Shakespeare's magical masterwork, The Tempest, directed by Darko Tresnjak, playing now through June 10, 2012 (press opening: Wednesday, May 16 at 7:30pm). Tony Award nominee Daniel Davis, best known for his recent NYC roles in Classic Stage's The Cherry Orchard, Lincoln Center's The Invention of Love, and the 2004 Broadway revival of La Cage aux Folles, as well as six seasons as Niles the Butler on TV's "The Nanny, plays Prospero. The Old Globe today announced principal casting for the Globe's 2012 Shakespeare Festival. Craig Noel Award winner Jay Whittaker returns to the Festival for his third consecutive season to appear in the title role of William Shakespeare's Richard III. He will also appear as Oliver in Shakespeare's As You Like It. Also returning to the Festival are Craig Noel Award winner Robert Foxworth and Adrian Sparks, who will take to the courtroom floor as titanic lawyers Henry Drummond and Matthew Harrison Brady, respectively, in the Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee classic Inherit the Wind. Foxworth, an Old Globe Associate Artist, will also play Lord Hastings in Richard III, and Sparks will play Lord Mayor of London in Richard III and Corin in As You Like It. Festival veteran Dana Green will star as Rosalind, and Dan Amboyer, new to the Festival stage, will play Orlando, the object of her affections, in As You Like It. Green will also play Queen Elizabeth in Richard III. Amboyer will also be featured as Bertram Cates in Inherit the Wind and the Earl of Richmond in Richard III. Festival newcomer Jacques C. Smith will play Jacques in As You Like It, the Duke of Buckingham in Richard III and Mr. Meeker in Inherit the Wind. Adrian Noble returns for his third outing as Artistic Director of the Shakespeare Festival and will helm As You Like It and Inherit the Wind. Renowned British director Lindsay Posner makes his debut at the Globe with his production of Richard III. Noble recently directed the World Premiere stage version of The King's Speech, which is currently touring England, and Posner's hit revival of Noises Off is currently playing at London's Old Vic and will transfer to the West End in March. The 2012 Shakespeare Festival, performed in repertory in the outdoor Lowell Davies Festival Theatre, runs June 3 - Sept. 30, 2012.

On Sunday, August 14th, playwright Lydia R. Diamond, director Kenny Leon & producer Reuben Cannon were toasted on Martha's Vineyard in celebration of the Broadway premiere of Diamond's play STICK FLY, which is set in a Martha's Vineyard mansion. The event took place at the home of investment banker Valerie Mosley who co-hosts with entertainment lawyer Lisa E. Davis, former NASA astronaut and the first African American to walk on the moon Dr. Bernard A. Harris, Jr., former UN Ambassador Andrew Young, journalist Charlayne Hunter-Gault and American human rights advocate Martin Luther King III.

La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club in association with Toronto's One Little Goat Theatre Company presents the New York premiere of Ritter, Dene, Voss, a 'misanthropic comedy' by celebrated Austrian author, Thomas Bernhard. Directed by One Little Goat's Artistic Director, Adam Seelig, Ritter, Dene, Voss runs from September 23 to October 10, 2010 in a limited engagement at La MaMa e.t.c.'s First Floor Theatre, located at 74A East 4th Street between 2nd Avenue & the Bowery in NYC. The production officially opens on September 23.

Production photos have been released for Atlantic Theater Company's production of 'Ages of the Moon' by Sam Shepard. The play begins previews January 12 with an official opening date of January 27, and will play through March 7, 2010.

On the Main Stage at Williamstown Theatre Festival is True West, by Sam Shepard, directed by former Boris Sagal Directing Fellow Daniel Goldstein (Walmartopia, Godspell). True West opened July 15 and runs through July 26, 2009.

The critically acclaimed Donmar Warehouse production of MARY STUART, starring Janet McTeer as Mary, Queen of Scots and Harriet Walter as Elizabeth I, celebrated Opening Night at the Broadhurst Theatre (235 West 44th Street) on Sunday, April 19th, 2009. BroadwayWorld.com's cameras caught the starry first night crowd.

Sean Mathias directs Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart in Samuel Beckett's Waiting for Godot which is his first production as Artistic Director of the 2009 Theatre Royal Haymarket Company. Waiting for Godot will tour the UK prior to its opening in London in April.

The production held a 'Tea With The Queens' Meet and Greet for the media at the Bernard B. Jacobs Room at the Sardi's Building in New York City on March 16th, 2009 and Broadwayworld's cameras were there!
