Joan Collins stopped by The Tony Award ® winning Forbidden Broadway, Gerard Alessandrini's hilarious musical spoof of all things theatre, which continues at the Triad Theatre (158 West 72nd Street).   After a five-year absence, this all-new edition, whic Forbidden Broadway: THE NEXT GENERATION, which received rave reviews, is now playing a limited engagement in  through November 30th. Feeling “completely inspired” by the latest crop of Broadway musicals, Alessandrini lampoons The Great White Way's biggest shows and stars in this edition, which he is directing.  Gerry McIntyre (Spamilton) is the choreographer.  The musical is produced by John Freedson, Harriet Yellin, Peter Brash and David Zippel and Gerard Alessandrini, in association with Tzili Charney.  www.forbiddenbroadway.com

Artists Series Concerts of Sarasota launches its 2019 Venice series season with "Forbidden Broadway," the long-running Off-Broadway musical revue where legends past and present meet with nimble satire in a hilarious roast of some of the theatre's greatest stars and songwriters, Sunday, January 27, 3:00 p.m., at the Venice Performing Arts Center, 1 Indian Way, Venice. The four-person parody, featuring a cast rich in Broadway and Off-Broadway experience, skewers such iconic shows as "Chicago," "Annie," "Les Miz," "The Lion King," and "Hamilton," and such celebrated performers as Liza Minelli, Carol Channing, Robert Goulet, and many more.

DRG Records just kicked off the release of Gerard Alessandrini's Forbidden Broadway: Comes Out Swinging! (2014 Un-Original Cast Album), produced by Grammy Award winner Hugh Fordin, yesterday at Barnes & Noble (150 East 86 Street). The cast along with writer/creator and director Gerard Alessandrini and longtime Forbidden Broadway illustrator and CD cover artist Ken Fallin, were on hand to sign the CD and for performances. The gloves are off! One of the most highly anticipated new shows of the season, Gerard Alessandrini's Forbidden Broadway COMES OUT SWINGING! begins previews Monday, March 17th at the newly refurbished Davenport Theatre (354 West 45th Street - between 8th and 9th Avenue). The show is set to open on Sunday, May 4th. This up-to-the-minute new edition will include Alessandrini's takes on Kinky Boots, Matilda, Rocky, Cabaret, The Bridges of Madison County, Aladdin, Pippin, the turntable-less Les Miz, Motown, The Sound of Music Live! and Bullets Over Broadway, among others. Geva Theatre Center invites Rochester to join in the down-home country fun of Pump Boys and Dinettes with book, lyrics and music by John Foley, Mark Hardwick, Debra Monk, Cass Morgan, John Schimmel and Jim Wann and directed by Mark Cuddy, with choreography by Peggy Hickey and musical direction by Nathan Dame. Pump Boys and Dinettes began performances on September 10 and runs in the Elaine P. Wilson Mainstage through October 13. On Tuesday, October 2nd, Gerard Alessandrini's Forbidden Broadway marked its 25th Anniversary with a brand-new edition Forbidden Broadway: Rude Awakening, at the 47th Street Theatre. To mark the occasion, Mayor Michael Bloomberg's Office of Theatre, Film and Television named October 2, 2007 as 'Forbidden Broadway Day.' Chita Rivera read a proclamation from Mayor Michael Bloomberg and unveiled a street sign renaming West 47th Street 'Forbidden Broadway.'
