Now in rehearsals, Steppenwolf Theatre Company is thrilled to present Guards at the Taj, a stunning tale about the search for beauty in desperate circumstances, written by acclaimed playwright Rajiv Joseph (Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo). As previously announced, ensemble member Amy Morton directs this Chicago premiere, featuring the original cast members, Omar Metwally (Humayun) and Arian Moayed (Babur), who were last seen on Steppenwolf's stage together in Homebody/Kabul. Morton directed the critically acclaimed Off-Broadway world premiere, which won the 2016 Obie Award for Best New American Play.

Award-winning artists' collective Rogue Artists Ensemblepresents its most ambitious project to date in association with Bootleg Theater: a modern, mature and delightfully macabre adaptation of Carlo Collodi's 'The Adventures of Pinocchio.' Making Books Sing (MBS), the critically acclaimed New York-based non-profit that promotes children's literacy and social development through professional Theater Productions and arts-in-education programs will, in conjunction with The Louis Armstrong House Museum and the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College presents the world-premiere, Off-Broadway musical Louis Armstrong: JAZZ AMBASSADOR with book by Myla Churchill (MBS's "A Band of Angels") and featuring music made famous by Louis Armstong. Circle Theatre's 30th Anniversary Season continues with the Southwest premiere of Seven in One Blow, or The Brave Little Kid, an adapted children's play conceived and written by Randy Sharp and Axis Company. When Seven in One Blow first premiered in 2002, The New York Times wrote, 'As the brave little kid triumphs over an ogre, a witch, selfish royalty and a Monster, the audience learns not to judge anything by its appearance, from parents to peas.' Circle Theatre's production officially opened Saturday evening, November 19 at 7:30pm.
