Review: THE WIZARD OF OZ: A Child's Dream at Ralston Community Theater

by Christine Swerczek • Jul 22, 2024

I grew up with “The Wizard of Oz.” Every year we set aside that one night when the 1939 MGM film with Judy Garland as Dorothy came on our black and white console television. We huddled around the screen with bowls of popcorn and feasted on the fantasy world of Oz.

BWW Spotlight Series: Meet John Wuchte, a Talented Actor/Director/Writer/Composer and Tribal Acting Theater Creator

by Shari Barrett • Jun 5, 2020

This Spotlight focuses on John Wuchte, a talented actor/director/writer/composer and amazing Tribal Acting theater creator, who I first met during last year's Hollywood Fringe Festival when I attended his masterful musical production Scarlett Fever which told the true story of the great search to find an actress to portray Scarlett O'Hara in Gone with the Wind in 1939. The production utilized John's unique style of performance, which he calls Tribal Acting; a combination of movement, gesture, song and dance, all accompanied by live percussion. And I was hooked!

It was a reunion for two of the lead actors from Broadway's On the Town when Tony-nominee Tony Yazbeck visited New Hope, PA to see Clyde Alves at Bucks County Playhouse. Alves plays the role of Tago in the world premiere of The New World , the musical comedy that is getting raves from critics. John Timpane of the Philadelphia Inquirer said With sneaky brilliance, beginning to end, The New World is fresh, funny, and fluid. Jean Brenner of Bucks County Herald said, Mark my words, The New World is headed to Broadway: it's special, it's funny, it's delightfully entertaining.'

BWW Review: A ERA DO ROCK (Rock of Ages) Rocks in Sao Paulo

by Claudio Erlichman • Jun 22, 2017

In 1987 on the Sunset Strip, a small town girl met a big city rocker  in LA's most famous rock club, and they fell in love to the greatest songs of the '80s. It's ROCK OF AGES, an arena-rock love story told through the mind-blowing, face-melting hits of Journey, Bon Jovi, Poison and many more. Don't miss this awesomely good time about dreaming big, playing loud and partying on.
