Lady, Be Good Photos - West End

The Theatre Group at SBCC will present RABBIT HOLE, David Lindsay-Abaire's touching play, as the final play in the 16/17 season.  Directed by Katie Laris, performances will be April 12-29 in the intimate Jurkowitz Theatre.

Westchester Broadway Theatre is taking audiences back to the glory days of Hollywood's Golden Age with its upcoming production of Lynnette Barkley and Christopher McGovern's Backwards in High Heels: The Ginger Musical, running August 13-September 20. As the cast, under the leadership of director/choreographer Jeremy Benton, got into the serious business of rehearsals, photographer Jake Primmerman was on hand to commemorate the work that goes into bringing the world of the 1930s movie musical to life onstage at WBT.

Broadway fans had plenty of reasons to celebrate this year, with dozens of shows having opened since January, hundreds of actors having made their debuts, and many more having returned to the stage for critically acclaimed performances. Not all news was good though, as we also suffered a loss of an incredible amount of talent. Below, BroadwayWorld sends a fond farewell to those who passed away in 2014.

The Chicago League of Lady Arm Wrestlers are flexing their forearms once again at CLLAW XV on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at their super colossal new venue, the Logan Square Auditorium, 2539 N. Kedzie Ave. in Chicago. Brought to you by Sideshow Theatre Company, CLLAW's 15th match will feature fearsome lady arm wrestlers decked out in over-the-top outfits, an open bar, shady referees and audience participation all wrapped into one wild, crazy, theatrical event. After the success of Brief Encounter in the West End and on Broadway, Kneehigh's new adaptation of Jacques Demy and Michel Legrand's The Umbrellas of Cherbourg will arrive at the Gielgud Theatre following a limited run at Curve, Leicester. The Umbrellas of Cherbourg will begin previews on 5 March, with press night on 22 March and is booking until 1 October 2011. Directed by Emma Rice, with lyrics translated by Sheldon Harnick, designs by Lez Brotherston, lighting by Malcolm Rippeth, sound by Simon Baker and musical supervision by Nigel Lilley, The Umbrellas of Cherbourg will be produced in the West End by Daniel Sparrow and Mike Walsh Productions, Curve Leicester and City Lights International in association with BE MY Productions.

Following the sold out performances and overflow crowds at its first two Cino Nights presentations (of Gary Sunshine's BEST SEX EVER and Mando Alvarado's (O)N THE 5:31), Rising Phoenix Rep continued the series November 7th with Courtney Baron's HERE I LIE which was performed by Denis Butkus and Samantha Soule to a sold out house. In this two-character play, 'Maris and Joseph have made their beds and now have to lie in them. Two people connected by illness, loneliness, and the need to be understood, they navigate the murky waters of subjective truth. If you believe it, can you make it true?' The production was directed by Rising Phoenix Rep artistic director Daniel Talbott.

The 2008-2009 Reprise Theatre Company season continues with 'I Love My Wife' with book and lyrics by Michael Stewart and music by Cy Coleman, December 2 to 14 at the Brentwood Theatre. Lea Thompson and Patrick Cassidy join Vicki Lewis and Jason Alexander. 'I Love My Wife' will be directed by Larry Moss with choreography by Lee Martino and music direction by Michael Skloff.
