The Maltz Jupiter Theatre is kicking off the New Year with a rare four-week run of the sunny and funny musical that took Broadway by storm: Mamma Mia!

As BroadwayWorld sadly reported last week, Tony Award winner Mary Tyler Moore - best known as a television icon for The Mary Tyler Moore Show- passed away at 80 years old. According to her publicist, she was with her husband and friends at the time of her passing.

Laguna Playhouse Artistic Director Ann E. Wareham is thrilled to announce the third show in the Laguna Playhouse 2016-2017 season, CHAPATTI, written by Christian O'Reilly and directed by David Ellenstein, based on the direction of Judith Ivey. "I just fell in love with this play and the beautiful and quirky love story at its center.  I think our audiences are about to fall in love with it too," says Wareham.  CHAPATTI will begin previews on Wednesday, January 11; will open on Sunday, January 15 at 5:30pm and will run through Sunday, January 29, 2016 at the Laguna Playhouse, 606 Laguna Canyon Road in Laguna Beach.

San Francisco Opera's Summer 2016 Season at the War Memorial Opera House continues with Don Carlo, Giuseppe Verdi's grand opera of political intrigue and passion, opening on June 12. Starring an internationally renowned cast including Michael Fabiano, Ana María Martínez, Mariusz Kwiecie? and René Pape, Don Carlo is directed by Emilio Sagi and conducted by Company Music Director Nicola Luisotti. Opening on June 14, Leoš Janá?ek's riveting Jen?fa completes the summer opera season. Last presented by the Company in 2001, Jen?fa returns in an Olivier Tambosi production conducted by Ji?í B?lohlávek and featuring legendary Finnish soprano Karita Mattila, Malin Byström, William Burden and Scott Quinn.

Chicago Gay Men's Chorus is gearing up for its annual presentation of Lipstick & Lyrics: Save the Unicorn Club! This vivacious drag show features 16 of CGMC's most colorful and talented performers and 16 sexy dancers. The premise: A gay bar is in trouble! A bus of drag queens breaks down out front and they must rescue the bar through song and dance. The show is a collaboration between Artistic Director James J. Vladimir Jurowski leads a rare revival of Richard Strauss's epic Die Frau ohne Schattenbeginning November 7, in the acclaimed staging by the late Herbert Wernicke that had its Met premiere in 2001. Anne Schwanewilms, one of the world's leading Strauss sopranos, makes her Met debut as the Empress. Christine Goerke, a graduate of the Met's Lindemann Young Artist Development Program who has recently emerged as a prominent international dramatic soprano, returns to the company after an absence of several seasons to sing the role of the Dyer's Wife. The cast also includes Torsten Kerl as the Emperor, Johan Reuter as Barak, and Ildikó Komlósi as the Nurse. On November 16, American soprano Meagan Miller will make her Met debut as the Empress. L.A. Contemporary Dance Company (LACDC) presents their Spring Repertory Concert THEN. NOW. ONWARD!
