BWW TV: WICKED Cast Album Goes Double Platinum

With sales surpassing the two million mark, the Grammy® award-winning original cast recording of Wicked has officially been certified double platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. Since its opening, the production has continued to captivate audiences and currently ranks in the top 20 of Broadway's longest running shows, having played over 2,910 performances to date. BroadwayWorld.com was on hand as composer Stephen Schwartz was presented with a commemorative plaque following the matinee performance at The Gershwin Theater on November 10, 2010. (more...)

BWW TV: WICKED Honors 5 Millionth Audience Member!

Broadway's current Elphaba (Mandy Gonzalez), Glinda (Katie Rose Clarke) and the cast of Wicked surprised the 5 millionth Broadway audience member at the smash-hit musical on September 29. The winner was surprised during the matinee curtain call and presented with the Key to the Emerald City in addition to additional prizes. Sponsored by Bank of America, and JCPenney 33rd & 6th, and hosted by Lite fm's on-air personalities, the tenth annual presentation of open-air, On- and Off- Broadway lunch hour performances runs through August 12th. BWW TV: WICKED's 5th The Empire State Building Glows Green!

Composer/lyricist Stephen Schwartz and Kerry Ellis, current star of the Broadway smash Wicked, in full costume as the show's green heroine, Elphaba, The Wicked Witch of The West, lit the Empire State Building green on Monday, October 27th. The building glowed Wicked green from dusk to midnight on Monday in honor of Wicked's 5th Anniversary Celebration. (more...)
