STAGE TUBE: TWIST Opens at Pasadena Playhouse!

The Pasadena Playhouse just opened the west coast premiere of the new musical TWIST - An American Musical by William F. Brown and Tina Tippit (book), Tena Clark (lyrics and music) and Gary Prim (music). Golden Globe and multi-Emmy Award-winner Debbie Allen directs a cast of 31 performers led by Tamyra Gray ('American Idol,' Rent and Bombay Dreams) and Cleavant Derricks (Tony Award-winner, Dreamgirls). The five-week limited engagement performs June 14 - July 17, 2011 with the official press opening on June 26, 2011 at The Pasadena Playhouse (39 S. El Molino Avenue). (more...)

On the heels of a highly successful Broadway run, the electrifying Latin and ballroom dance spectacular Burn the Floor plays the Pantages Theatre for a strictly-limited 2 week engagement, which began April 26. The show will run through May 8, 2011. The Los Angeles engagement features So You Think You Can Dance alumni Anya Garnis, Pasha Kovalev, Robbie Kmetoni, Janette Manrara, and Karen Hauer. Also featured is Vonzell Solomon, second runner-up in Season Four of American Idol, who is Burn the Floor's female vocalist. Burn the Floor is coming to SAN DIEGO CIVIC THEATRE in a Broadway/San Diego ~ A Nederlander Presentation, OCTOBER 12 - 17 only; direct from Broadway and London. The tour features 'So You Think You Can Dance' alums Anya Garnis, Pasha Kovalev, Ashleigh Di Lello, Ryan Di Lello, Robbie Kmetoni, Janette Manrara and Karen Hauer. All seven have been seen on TV's 'So You Think You Can Dance,' in the US (Anya & Pasha, Top 10 Finalists and Season 7 All Stars; Ashleigh & Ryan Di Lello, Janette Manrara and Karen Hauer, Top 10 Finalists) and Australia (Robbie Kmetoni, 2010 Winner). Also featured is Vonzell Solomon as the show's female vocalist. Vonzell was the second runner-up in the 4th season of 'American Idol.' San Diego's own Mary Murphy, guest judge on 'So You Think You Can Dance' will appear as a guest star the San Jose and San Diego engagements of the Tour, partnered with ballroom champion Vaidas Skimelis.
