BWW TV: Sneak Peek of Tina Benko in JACKIE!

Previews began Sunday (February 24) for Tina Benko starring in Jackie, the North American premiere of the play by Nobel Prize winning Austrian Elfriede Jelinek, best known in the United States for her novel The Piano Teacher and the 2001 film based on it. Directed by Tea Alagic from the English translation by Gitta Honegger, Jackie opens Tuesday, March 5, at 7:30pm at Women's Project Theater's new home, New York City Center Stage II, 131 West 55th Street. The first official trailer of comedian Mike Birbiglia's Sundance selected indie SLEEPWALK WITH ME has been released. Birbiglia writes, co-directs and stars in the film, based on the comedian-turned-playwright-turned-filmmaker's own one-man show and book of the same name. STAGE TUBE: WAR HORSE Creators on Puppet Construction

The National Theatre of Great Britain's production of WAR HORSE, presented by Lincoln Center Theater and the National Theatre of Great Britain in association with Bob Boyett, is now in previews at the Vivian Beaumont Theater (150 West 65th Street). WAR HORSE is based on the novel by Michael Morpurgo, adapted by Nick Stafford, with Handspring Puppet Company, and directed by Marianne Elliott and Tom Morris. The Broadway community mourns the loss of Elizabeth Taylor, legendary stage and screen star, who died Wednesday at the age of 79 in Los Angeles. The marquees of Broadway theatres in New York were dimmed in her memory on Friday, March 25th, at exactly 8:00pm for one minute. (more...)
