BWW TV: Sneak Peek of Signature Theatre's THE MOUND BUILDERS

Signature Theatre has announced a one-week extension for THE MOUND BUILDERS written by Lanford Wilson and directed by Jo Bonney. The production will now play through Sunday, April 14. The production is currently in previews and will open March 17 in The Romulus Linney Courtyard Theatre at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues). Signature Theatre presents the New York premiere of THE TRAIN DRIVER, written and directed by Athol Fugard. THE TRAIN DRIVER is the final production in the Residency One: Athol Fugard Series. The production runs through September 23, 2012, with a September 9 opening night in The Romulus Linney Courtyard Theatre at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues). Gore Vidal, the writer recognized as one of the foremost authors and essayists of the last several decades, passed away yesterday at 86 years old. Vidal is currently represented on Broadway by the star-studded revival of THE BEST MAN, which began a limited run on April 1, was twice extended, and will close on September 9. STAGE TUBE: Julie Halston, Everett Quinton Accept Alliance Awards

The Off Broadway Alliance, the organization of Off Broadway producers, theaters, general managers, press agents and marketing firms, presented the inaugural Off Broadway Alliance Awards Reception June 21, 2011 at Sardi's. Honorees were on hand to receive their awards and Romulus Linney, Ellen Stewart and Lanford Wilson were posthumously inducted into the Off Broadway Hall of Fame. (more...)

STAGE TUBE: Edward Norton on Edward Albee as Part of Signature Series

As Signature Theatre Company prepares for the January 2012 opening of their new Frank Gehry-designed home, Signature Center, they have launched a new video series featuring interviews with a wide array of playwrights, directors, actors, and others connected to the Theatre. Called 'Signature Stories,' the videos capture personal reminiscences about time spent at Signature and offer a 'behind the scenes' glimpse into the inner-workings of the Company. The first three multi-subject videos in the series have featured architect Frank Gehry and Signature alumni Ethan Hawke, Frankie Faison, Kate Mulgrew and more talking about the Company's new home, as well as past Signature Playwrights-in-Residence, actors, directors and designers reflecting on their artistic experiences at Signature.
