She's coming back, and she'll never go away again! The upcoming revival of Michael Stewart and Jerry Herman's masterpiece Hello, Dolly!, starring legendary performer Bette Midler, has quickly become the hottest ticket of the year. Directed by four-time Tony Award winner Jerry Zaks and choreographed by Tony Award winner Warren Carlyle, Hello, Dolly! will begin performances at Broadway's Shubert Theatre on March 15, 2017, with an official opening night of April 20, 2017. BroadwayWorld spoke with Kate Baldwin (Irene) last night at the opening of Sunset Boulevard, where she told us all about rehearsals so far!
Rehearsals may not start until January, but Bette Midler is already hard at work preparing for her return to Broadway. 'I'm excited, I'm unnerved, I'm utterly game. I love the character, I know the score, I'm learning the dances,' the icon told NBC Today on Sunday morning.
David Hyde Pierce talked with Kelly Ripa and guest co-host Matt Bomer about his current Off-Broadway project, A LIFE, at Playwrights Horizons and his starring role in the upcoming production of HELLO DOLLY opposite, Bette Midler.
The last time Bette Midler graced a Broadway stage, she was the sole cast member of John Logan's I'LL EAT YOU LAST: A CHAT WITH SUE MENGERS.
