Battery Dance will present its 45th Annual Festival at Wagner Park, featuring a week of free nightly performances, community workshops, and a one-night commemorative show marking the U.S. semi-quincentennial.

Multiple lost Broadway theaters intersect with the Hammerstein family. This follows since Oscar Hammerstein I was a theater owner and builder. Today in The Bronx at P.S. 72X, leading NYC arts education nonprofit Inside Broadway (Executive Director, Michael Presser) begins its city-wide school tour of The Gershwins' Real Magic, a new musical they developed with The Estate of George & Ira Gershwin and Tams-Witmark, a Concord Theatricals Company Music Library. The tour will play 90 performances over 10 weeks at over 50 New York City Public Schools in The Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens and Manhattan. Since 1982, Inside Broadway has impacted the lives of over 1 million New York City public school students with its one-of-a-kind theatre arts and education programs that enrich, educate and foster new generations of theatergoers.

The Accordion Festival, a five-hour finale to the Accordions Around the World series at Bryant Park, features the the wide range of this often-overlooked and little-known instrument. This special event features Shashmaqam (Bukharian Jewish Music and Dance from Central Asia), Rhode Island-based João Cirilo Pilom Batuko Band (Funana and Batuko from Cape Verde), New York's own Shilpa Ray (Indie rock on the harmonium), Italian superstars Canzoniere Grecanico Salentino (Pizzica Tarantata from Puglia), and all-women, sister act Rimel (Mexican Norteño), whose performance will be the perfect way to start your Mexican Independence Day weekend celebrations! The festival will be hosted by NPR's Anastasia Tsioulcas and curated by Ariana Hellerman.
