New Theater Company Crash of Rhinos to Host CRASH! Sketch Comedy Revue, 5/18

The National Conservatory of Dramatic Arts, the only accredited acting school in the Greater Washington Area, announced today that Crash of Rhinos, a new theater company in the process of being born, will hold a sketch comedy revue called the 'Crash!' in the Conservatory's black-box theater on Saturday, May 18, at 8 pm. Tickets are $10. Proceeds from the performance will go towards funding the incorporation of the new company as an official 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. (more...)


Headlong Dance Theater's AVALANCHE Runs June 6-8

Philadelphia-based Headlong Dance Theater brings a new performance work to New York City that considers the performer's body over a lifetime of performing, and the idea of an ordinary life. Avalanche will be performed June 6-8, 2013, 8 p.m., at Danspace Project, St. Mark's Church-in-the-Bowery. (Tickets are $18 and available at 212-674-8112 or danspaceproject.org.) Jackie Hoffman & John Epperson Set to Lead ONCE UPON A MATTRESS Benefit for Transport Group, 6/17

Transport Group, the Drama Desk, Outer Critics' Circle, and OBIE award-winning theatre company, has announced that it will present a one-night-only, all-star concert of the acclaimed 1959 classic Broadway musical Once Upon A Mattress on Monday, June 17 at 7pm at the Romulus Linney Courtyard Theatre in the Pershing Square Signature Center, 480 West 42 Street. Jackie Hoffman will star as Princess Winnifred with John 'Lypsinka' Epperson as The Queen Aggravain, and the evening will be directed by five-time Drama Desk nominee, Jack Cummings III. Composer Mary Rodgers will take part in a post-show discussion with the audience. Further casting will be announced at a later date. The benefit concert for Transport Group is co-produced by John Epperson. (more...)

Everyman Theatre Closes Season With THE BEAUX' STRATAGRM

Everyman Theatre closes its historic 2012/13 season with a staging of the rarely produced comedic gem, The Beaux' Stratagem. Founding Artistic Director Vincent M. Lancisi directs the production, which features a large cast of 15 actors and includes Resident Company Members Megan Anderson, Clinton Brandhagen and Bruce Randolph Nelson. Everyman moved into its brand new theatre in January of this year. The production will run from June 5th through June 30th. (more...)

Theater Latte Da announced yesterday that a season of four adventures in musical storytelling and the continuation of a major new work development program will comprise its 16th Season. Slated for production are Steerage Song at The Lab Theater (September 25 - October 20, 2013), All Is Calm: The Christmas Truce of 1914 at the Pantages Theatre (December 19-22, 2013), Cabaret at the Pantages Theatre (January 15 - February 9, 2014), and Our Town at The Lab Theater (March 12 - April 6, 2014). In spring 2014, the company will bring back NEXT: New Musicals in the Making, their program to develop new works for the musical theater canon. (more...)
