The Czech fairy tale opera features a cast headed by Rachel Willis-Sorensen in her role debut as Rusalka,Brandon Jovanovich as the Prince, Jamie Barton as Ježibaba, bass Kristinn Sigmundsson as Vodnik and Sarah Cambidge as the Foreign Princess. South Korean maestra and Houston Grand Opera Principal Guest Conductor Eun Sun Kim leads the cast and San Francisco Opera Orchestra in her first Company engagement. The Santa Fe Opera's General Director Robert K. Meya today announced repertory and casting for the company's exciting 64th Season in 2020. On the panel joining Meya for the announcement were the President of the Board of Directors Susan G. The New York Philharmonic will present Rachmaninoff: A Philharmonic Festival, tonight, November 10-28, 2015, featuring 24-year-old Russian pianist Daniil Trifonov performing three of the composer's piano concertos and the Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini over the course of three consecutive all-Rachmaninoff programs, each led by a different conductor: Cristian Macelaru (in his Philharmonic debut), Neeme Jarvi, and Ludovic Morlot.

'Eric Bentley's Brecht-Eisler Songbook,' the debut CD from soprano actress Karyn Levitt, will be available from Roven Records today, October 30.

Last March, the West Coast premiere of the Yiddish Purim musical Di Megileh of Itzik Manger enjoyed a huge success, with four standing-room-only performances at the Jewish Community Center of the East Bay. In celebration of the 2015 Purim season, the New Yiddish Theater, in conjunction with the 30th Jewish Music Festival, takes pride in presenting a reprise with the same all-star lead performers and an updated choral arrangement. Performances will be given at 8 pm on February 26 & 28, March 1 & 3, with a matinee on Monday, March 2 at 1:30 pm. As before, all of the spoken and sung Yiddish will be super-titled in English.

Singer Karyn Levitt, with pianist Eric Ostling, will perform Eric Bentley's Brecht-Eisler Song Book, a unique evening that features the songs of Austrian composer Hanns Eisler (1898-1962), set to poetry by Bertolt Brecht and other noted writers, in English versions by Eric Bentley, Monday February 3 at 7:30 PM at the Leonard Nimoy Thalia/Symphony Space, 2537 Broadway (entrance on 95th Street). Eric Bentley, now 97 years old, is the first translator into English of Brecht's plays and poems, introducing Brecht's work to American stages in the 1940's and 50's. Bentley has now unlocked Hanns Eisler's starkly beautiful songs, many set to poems by Brecht, to be performed by soprano Karyn Levitt, with whom he has worked closely since 2011.

In a program featuring guest pianist Maxim Mogilevsky and conducted by CSO Music Director Jean-Marie Zeitouni, the CSO will perform perhaps the most beloved of all piano concertos, Rachmaninoff's second which overflows with appealing Russian-flavored melodies, heady emotions, and dazzling solo virtuosity. Also to be performed are John Estacio's Brio and the last Brahms symphony that sums up his life with waves of warmth, nostalgia, regret, defiance, and joy.
