Transport Group to Present THE MEMORY SHOW, Starring Leslie Kritzer and Catherine Cox, Beginning 4/16

Transport Group, the Drama Desk and OBIE award-winning theatre company, has announced that the New York premiere of a new musical, The Memory Show, book and lyrics by Sara Cooper; music by Zach Redler; directed by Joe Calarco, will begin performances Tuesday, April 16, at 7pm at The Duke on 42nd Street, a New 42nd Street project, at 229 West 42nd Street. The Memory Show features Catherine Cox and Leslie Kritzer. Opening night is scheduled for Tuesday, April 30 at 7pm. (more...)

Hunter Foster's SUMMER OF '42 to Play Bucks County Playhouse This Summer; Lonny Price Set to Direct!

Bucks County Playhouse (BCP) (Jed Bernstein, Producing Director) has announced Summer of '42 as the final piece of its first full summer season. Featuring a book by Tony Award nominee Hunter Foster (Little Shop of Horrors) and music and lyrics by David Kirshenbaum (Vanities), Summer of '42 is based upon the novel and screenplay by Herman Raucher. Tony Award nominee Lonny Price (A Class Act) makes his directorial return to the Bucks County Playhouse following A Grand Night for Singing, the first show of last year's grand re-opening. (more...)

AMERICAN IDOL's Crystal Bowersox and Annette O'Toole to Lead ALWAYS...PATSY CLINE; Opens on Broadway This August!

Burke-Cohen Entertainment/Jimmy Burke, Jeff Cohen presents American Idol finalist Crystal Bowersox and Oscar and Emmy Award nominee Annette O'Toole starring in the Broadway premiere of Ted Swindley's Always… Patsy Cline, directed by Tony Award winner John Rando. The scenery will be designed by Anna Louizos, who is currently represented on Broadway with 'Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella.' Performances begin in July with an August opening. (more...)

BWW Reviews: TRAILS at Village – A Slow Starter But Worth the Hike

A new musical about two old friends hiking the Appalachian Trail doesn't sound like a dead lock winner does it? I mean, how much can we sing about hiking? And while it does take a bit to really hook into you and at times isn't so sure of its footing, the new musical 'Trails' currently playing at Village Theatre manages to walk off with your heart through some very fine performances. Bay Street Players Present VANITIES, Opening 2/3

Vanities, the laugh-out-loud comedy about the friendship among three small town girls coming of age in the 1960s and '70s, opens at the State Theatre in downtown Eustis on February 3 and runs for three consecutive Sunday nights through February 17. This bittersweet comedy by Jack Heifner is an astute, snapshot-sharp chronicle of the lives of the three young women as they prepare to graduate from high school, navigate college, and launch out into the wide world. It is the story of the nature of friendship and how it can change through time. BSP's production is directed by David Clevinger and includes the talent of Stephanie Kuzicki, Mariah Lester and SaraJane Olson. (more...)

NAMT Awards $10,000 to Support Barrington Stage's SOUTHERN COMFORT World Premiere, 7/19-8/10

National Alliance for Musical Theatre Announces $37,000 in Grants

The National Alliance for Musical Theatre (NAMT) announces 11 awards granted from their National Fund for New Musicals, a major funding program to support NAMT member not-for-profit theatres in their collaborations with writers to create, develop and produce new musicals. Now in its fifth year, the Fund will provide grants totaling $37,000 to 11 organizations across the country. (more...)
