Thrillpeddlers announces their anticipated annual Halloween season extravaganza Shocktoberfest 12: FEAR OVER FRISCO - A Trio of Noir-Horror Plays by Eddie Muller. This 12th annual festival of Grand Guignol horror theatre and black comedies, plays Thurs., Fri., and Sat. at 8:00 pm from Sept. 23 through Nov. 19, 2011, with a special Halloween performance on Mon., Oct. 31 at 8:00 pm. Review - A Steady Rain & Let Me Down Easy

If you take a whiff of air somewhere in the vicinity of the Schoenfeld Theatre these days and sense a slight essence of Mickey Spillane, it's undoubtedly due to the presence of Keith Huff's hardboiled police melodrama, A Steady Rain. A crackling good story told with potent language and a couple of terrific performances, this is a hearty plateful of good old fashioned meat and potatoes theatre. (more...)

Maguire's Material Pictures Hires Production, Financing Partners

Tobey Maguire's Material Pictures has secured independent financing to expand the production company. Richard Weinberg joins as a financial partner as Material Pictures hires Ben Tierney as Vice President of Production and promotes Anastasiya Kukhtareva to Creative Executive. DesiLit presents the third Kriti Festival, a celebration of South Asian and diaspora literature and arts, to be held June 11-14, 2009, at University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) and Roosevelt University. The four-day Kriti Festival is slated to include participant panels, author readings, writing workshops, publishing and marketing seminars, live performances, and question and answer sessions with literary agents and editors. Desi is a person of South Asian ancestry (living in South Asia or the South Asian diaspora), and kriti is pronounced 'kree-thee.' (more...)

The production will star Leslie Kritzer as the dim-witted showgirl, Billie Dawn, along side Michael McGrath as the shrewd tycoon, Harry Brock. Born Yesterday opens on Monday, August 18th. (more...)
