North Shore Arts Angels to Host Alumni Benefit VIKING MASQUERS 50th ANNIVERSARY GALA, 6/15

The North Shore Arts Angels have announced that on Saturday evening June 15th, scores of alumni from North Shore High School will reunite to dust off their vocal chords for the 'Viking Masquers 50th Anniversary Gala,' a one night only fundraising event celebrating 50 years of musical theater on the North Shore stage. The gala, which includes an Alumni Show, a dinner with raffles and an auction, and an exhibit of a giant archive of theater memorabilia will take place at North Shore High School (450 Glen Cove Avenue, Glen Head, NY) with proceeds benefiting a special fund to revive the district's now defunct Summer Theater Workshop. High Fell Productions in association with Neil McPherson for the Finborough Theatre presents THE BLOOD IS STRONG by David Hutchison. Directed by Bruce Guthrie, the show is designed by Gabriella Slade with lighting by Humphrey McDermott and sound by Josh Richardson. Just announced, the cast will feature: Janet Amsden, Margaret-Ann Bain, Martin Buchan, Alistair Findlay, Neil McNulty and Steven Miller in this World Premiere. (more...)

Cameron Mackintosh to Adapt OLIVER! for the Big Screen, Eyeing Broadway Revival with Samantha Barks?

According to the Daily Mail, Cameron Mackintosh wants to adapt Lionel Bart's OLIVER! for the big screen, following the success of Tom Hooper's LES MISERABLES film adaptation, which has officially surpassed the $400 million mark in worldwide sales, making it the second highest-grossing movie musical of all time. Rumors are that Mackintosh is eyeing Stephen Daldry as director for OLIVER! No solid timeline for production or casting has been revealed. (more...)
