SNL's Kate McKinnon to Return to North Shore High School for Anniversary Gala, 6/15

The North Shore Arts Angels are pleased to announce that 'Saturday Night Live' cast member Kate McKinnon will be appearing in the upcoming ',' a one night only fund raising event celebrating one half a century of her school's drama troupe. McKinnon will be joining over 140 other alumni from North Shore High School on stage to celebrate five decades of Masquers history and raise funds to revive the district's now defunct Summer Theater Workshop on June 15. Spring 2013 SpotLight Program Honorees Announced by Hennepin Theatre Trust

Hennepin Theatre Trust today announced the new spring 2013 honorees from Minnesota high schools recognizing musical theatre accomplishments by school and category for the 2012-13 SpotLight Musical Theatre Program. Now in its eighth successful year, SpotLight is Hennepin Theatre Trust's flagship educational initiative which honors and supports Minnesota high school musical theatre students and programs. This year, 56 schools, including nine from greater Minnesota, are presenting musicals made possible by the collaboration of almost 5,000 students and annually seen by an estimated 105,000 audience members. North Shore Arts Angels to Host Alumni Benefit VIKING MASQUERS 50th ANNIVERSARY GALA, 6/15

The North Shore Arts Angels have announced that on Saturday evening June 15th, scores of alumni from North Shore High School will reunite to dust off their vocal chords for the 'Viking Masquers 50th Anniversary Gala,' a one night only fundraising event celebrating 50 years of musical theater on the North Shore stage. The gala, which includes an Alumni Show, a dinner with raffles and an auction, and an exhibit of a giant archive of theater memorabilia will take place at North Shore High School (450 Glen Cove Avenue, Glen Head, NY) with proceeds benefiting a special fund to revive the district's now defunct Summer Theater Workshop. Cameron Mackintosh to Bring OLIVER! Back to Broadway

Today, Michael Riedel reports that in addition to upcoming productions of MISS SAIGON, BARNUM and a Broadway return of LES MIS that 'As if three shows weren't enough, Mackintosh is also planning a Broadway revival of 'Oliver!' Lionel Bart's chirpy old musical hasn't been seen in New York since a short-lived 1983 production starring Patti LuPone. It's said to be Mackintosh's favorite musical, and it's how he got his start in the theater. 'Oliver!' played the New Theatre in London in 1960, and a teenage Mackintosh got a job polishing the brass railing in the theater lobby.' (more...)

Broadway Icon and nine time TONY Award winner, Tommy Tune, hosted The Actors Fund's 17th Annual Tony Awards Viewing Party at the Taglyan Cultural Complex on Sunday, June 9th, 2013. Produced and written by David Rambo and directed by Luke Yankee, the event featured the only approved live TONY Award feed direct from New York to California, allowing guests of the Actors Fund to view the awards before the rest of West Coast viewed the delayed broadcast.
