St. Petersburg String Quartet and More to Return to Music Mountain Festival, 7/6-7

A variety of musical traditions will be on display when America's oldest continuing summer chamber music festival Music Mountain welcomes celebrated pianist Evans Haile hosting a musical cocktail party, filled with devilish wit, humor, glittering piano virtuosity on Saturday, July 6 (6:30PM) followed by an encore appearance by the St. Petersburg String Quartet on Sunday, July 7 (3PM) with guest artist Ilya Yakushev, piano. This weekend's offerings are a fine example of how Music Mountain brings back favorite quartets, and welcomes new performers with scheduled summer concerts through September 8th. (more...)

M&M Stage Productions to Present GODSPELL at Kelsey Theatre, 7/12-21

The parables of Jesus Christ come to life when M&M Stage Productions presents the modern day musical "Godspell" at Mercer County Community College's Kelsey Theatre. Performances are Fridays, July 12 and 19 at 8 p.m.; Saturdays, July 13 and 20 at 8 p.m.; and Sundays, July 14 and 21 at 2 p.m. Kelsey Theatre is located on the college's West Windsor campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road. BWW Reviews: Country Playhouse's SEUSSICAL is Jovially Enticing and Blissfully Gratifying

It is summer in Houston. The heat index is soaring more and more each day. Moreover, many of our local theatre companies are producing family friendly fare that allows each and every one of us to beat the heat for fun theatrical treats. Championing this campaign is Country Playhouse with their whimsical and captivating production of Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens' SUESSICAL. The BRoadway incarnation tried out in Boston before moving into the Richard Rogers Theatre late in 2000. It was met with lukewarm reviews and closed on May 20, 2001 after 198 performances and 34 previews. Before hitting the Road on its first of two national tours, the book underwent extensive revisions because of its marginal showing on BRoadway. (more...)

One of Las Vegas' hottest new comedy venues is on the move. Starting July 3, Big Al's Comedy Club - named 'Best Bargain Show in Las Vegas' by the staff of the Las Vegas Review-Journal - will move from The Orleans to a larger venue at the Gold Coast Hotel and Casino. (more...)

Virginia Rep to Celebrate 60th Anniversary with STEEL MAGNOLIAS, 7/12-8/25

Virginia Repertory Theatre celebrates the 60th anniversary of the founding of Barksdale Theatre at Hanover Tavern with a production of Steel Magnolias featuring an all-star cast. The show opens on Friday, July 12, 2013 at Hanover Tavern, 13181 Hanover Courthouse Road, and runs through August 25, coinciding with the official anniversary on August 1. Sixty years ago in 1953, six actors, two children, a dog and two pigs moved into a historic ruin called Hanover Tavern. The transplanted New Yorkers founded Central Virginia's first professional theatre and named the company in memory of a deceased college friend, Barbara Barksdale. (more...)

Steely Dan is giving their fans another incredible opportunity to hear the band delve deep into its three-decade-plus discography, as Rock & Roll Hall of Famers Walter Becker and Donald Fagen have announced a seven-night residency at New York's Beacon Theatre beginning on Sept. 30, 2013. Following previous multi-night stands that earned rave reviews in 2009 and 2011, Steely Dan will stage complete performances of several classic albums in their entirety, along with selected hits and fan-requested favorites. The National Symphony Orchestra Announces its 2013 Wolf Trap Summer Schedule

The National Symphony Orchestra today announced its 2013 line-up of performances at Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts. Eleven performances will take place between June 26 and August 3, 2013. CAVALIA Extends Through June 30 in Sydney

The multimedia equestrian and acrobatic spectacular Cavalia: A Magical Encounter Between Human and Horse announces additional performances to its Sydney season.
