Wayward Productions & Chicago Fusion Theatre's RICHARD III Transfers to the Den, Opening 5/24

Following its, critically acclaimed, sold out run at Underground Wonder Bar, Wayward Productions in association with Chicago Fusion Theatre will transfer its hit production of William Shakepeare's tragic masterpiece RICHARD III to The Den Theatre, 1333 N. Milwaukee Ave., for an extended run, May 24 through June 29, 2013. Directed by Carlo Lorenzo Garcia. Tickets for RICHARD III are available at www.waywardproductions.org or by calling (866) 468-3401. Burning Coal Theatre Company's 'Wait Till You See This' series and Mortall Coile Theatre Company presents Adam Rapp's Nocturne, directed by Dana Marks, and featuring Jesse Gephart. BASiC Theatre Project's NI****/FA**** Debuts at Downtown Urban Theater Festival Tonight

Ni****/Fa****: a new play premiering as part of the Downtown Urban Theater Festival is a two-hander that takes on race and sexuality; a topic that, as the play's title suggests, can often be a provocative discussion. The play, written by Keelay Gipson is being co-produced by BASiC Theatre Project and directed by BASiC's artistic director and co-founder, Zi Alikhan. The show features Sean Bell and Stephen Conrad Moore in the titular roles. The show premieres in the festival tonight, March 15th. (more...)

Full Cast Announced for 1812 Productions' IT'S MY PARTY: THE WOMEN AND COMEDY PROJECT

Beginning in April, 2013, 1812 Productions will present the world premiere comedy It's My Party: The Women and Comedy Project, created and directed by 1812 Productions' Artistic Director, Jennifer Childs, and featuring a diverse ensemble of Philadelphia actresses. A production which will use physical comedy, storytelling, and music in a one-of-a-kind theatrical event, the creative process for It's My Party: The Women and Comedy Project began in 2010 with two questions: how do women use comedy and how does that usage change as they age. With these pointed inquiries as her guides, Ms. Childs embarked on three inclusive and ongoing initiatives which, together, would form the core of the Project. (more...)

New City Stage to Present AMERICAN SLIGO, 5/30-6/23

New City Stage Company finishes its successful 7th season with the regional premiere of Adam Rapp's play about the life of a professional wrestler --AMERICAN SLIGO. The play takes place during the family dinner for Art 'Crazy Train' Sligo on the day of his final match. The show is the 5th production of the 2012-13 season, entitled 'The New American Dysfunctional Family.' Previews begin May 30 and opening night is Saturday, June 1 at 8 PM.
