Kid Inventors Win $20,000 Prize for Creating Device to Help Seniors Pick Up Small Objectsby BWW News Desk - Jun 18, 2013Kid inventors in the FIRST LEGO League (FLL) took top honors today at the 3rd annual Global Innovation Award ceremony for their invention, the “Gramma-Jamma,” an assistive aid for seniors, earning a $20,000 cash prize from the Award's Founding Sponsor, XPRIZE. Nearly 500 FLL teams from around the world submitted ideas for inventions that could help seniors lead better lives. The winning invention, submitted by “NeXT GEN” from Oakland, Md., is an assistive device that helps seniors pick up pills or other small objects that are difficult to retrieve with a conventional claw or magnetic-type device. The theme for the competition was SENIOR SOLUTIONSSM; FLL teams were tasked with creating inventions that help seniors lead better lives.

Milagro will share its spaces and resources with JTC, in essence, offering it a home. AT&T Saves $151 Million Through Cutting-Edge Energy Efficiency Efforts Over Three Years by BWW News Desk - Jun 18, 2013How much money can more than 14,300 energy-reducing projects save a company? In its 2012 Sustainability Report, AT&T reports those projects saved the company more than $151 million in annualized energy savings since 2010 and nearly 1.3 billion kilowatt hours (kWh), equivalent to the electricity use of 136,340 homes in one year. In the report, AT&T reveals that it has also rolled out its energy score card program to 1,000 retail stores, achieved 11 megawatts of capacity of alternative energy and joined Rocky Mountain Institute's Portfolio Energy RetroFit Challenge aimed at scaling energy efficiency.
