CARRIE to Be Licensed by R&H; Published by Imagem

The legendary stage musical CARRIE will soon be available for licensing from R&H Theatricals, and its score will be published by Imagem Music, each a division of the Imagem Music Group. Based on Stephen King's best-selling novel, CARRIE features music by Academy Award winner Michael Gore (Fame, Terms of Endearment), lyrics by Academy Award winner Dean Pitchford (Fame, Footloose), and a book by Lawrence D. Nominations for the 2012 FREDDY© Awards were announced yesterday, May 10th, live on 69 WFMZ-TV during the Noon News broadcast. Leading the pack this year are Freedom High School with 17 nominations. STAGE TUBE: On This Day 5/11- ONCE UPON A MATTRESS

Today in 1959, Once Upon a Mattress opened at the Phoenix Theatre, where it ran for 244 performances. Once Upon a Mattress is a musical comedy with music by Mary Rodgers, lyrics by Marshall Barer and book by Jay Thompson, Dean Fuller, and Marshall Barer. The play was written as an adaptation of the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale The Princess and the Pea. Once Upon a Mattress marked the Broadway debut of later stage and TV legend Carol Burnett, who originated the role of Princess Winnifred. Also featured were Joseph Bova, Allen Case, Jack Gilford and Matt Mattox. Jane White played the role of Queen Aggravain, becoming the first African-American actress to portray a white character on the Broadway stage. (more...)

"I'm so excited for the show! 10 nominations is a really nice round number. My husband and I were watching NY1 this morning and simultaneously trying to get our twins out the door to go to music class. So, we were wrangling them and watching the nominations at the same time. My husband Scott Landis is a producer for NICE WORK and for VENUS IN FUR so we were especially thrilled. We're a quadruple nomination household! The cast is performing on David Letterman on Thursday so we have a rehearsal for that. I'm thrilled that i'll get to see them!" (more...)

Alhambra's THE WIZARD OF OZ to Raise Funds for Community PedsCare Program

Today in a meeting with staff, Alhambra managing partner Craig Smith announced that the entire run of the summer show, Wizard of Oz, will be a fundraiser for the Community PedsCare Program of Community Hospice of Northeast Florida.
