Vital Theatre Company Opens FANCY NANCY THE MUSICAL World Premiere, 9/29

Vital Theatre Company has announced the world premiere of Fancy Nancy The Musical, opening September 29th, 2012 at the McGinn/Cazale Theatre at 2162 Broadway. With a book by Susan DiLallo, music by Danny Abosch, and direction and choreography by Sam Viverito, Fancy Nancy The Musical is based on the bestselling children's book series by Jane O'Connor and illustrated by Robin Preiss Glasser. Start the New Year off with a song! And why not make it a brand new song, in a brand new musical, written especially for -and acted by - teens! For the first time ever, Village Theatre's KIDSTAGE program will premiere a Village Original production; Rocket Science debuted with much acclaim as a 2009 Village Originals production and is based on HBO Films' Rocket Science written by Jeffrey Blitz. The 17 local teens performing in this production have the additional thrill of working with the show creators: Patricia Cotter (book), Stephen Weiner (music) and Jason Rhyne (lyrics). For this production Steve Tomkins will direct and Tim Symons is the musical director. (more...)

After taking an excursion--that's fancy for trip--downtown to Culture Project, Nancy returns to Vital Theatre beginning February 2nd, with performances every Saturday and Sunday at 3:30 pm, following performances of Vital's newest world premiere musical, Show Way. The Old Globe will open its 2013-14 Season with the world premiere of The Honeymooners, a new musical based on the legendary CBS television series. 2012 Tony Award winner Michael McGrath (Nice Work If You Can Get It) will star as Ralph Kramden, the small-time bus driver with big-time dreams.
