The Weather Channel(C) Companies (TWCC) announced today that it has greenlit 'Pyros,' 'Iceberg Hunters' and 'Reefmakers.' The three miniseries join 'Turbine Cowboys,' 'Iron Men,' and 'Lights Out' (premiering Aug. 14) as the latest installments in 'Braving the Elements,' a new docu-series anthology revealing the work, subculture and characters of professions exposed to the elements and impacted by the weather. OUTBACK HUNTERS to Premiere on History Channel This Sunday, 11/21

The intrepid Louisiana alligator hunters featured in the hit History series Swamp People don't have the monopoly on dangerous workplace conditions. They have kindred spirits in Australia's Northern Territory, where it takes a special mixture of courage and madness to hunt and trap monstrous crocodiles. OUTBACK HUNTERS, a new History series from the same production team behind Swamp People, takes viewers Down Under to an untamed frontier where crocs outnumber people three to one and it's never entirely clear who is the hunter and who is the hunted. Terry Kinney to Direct Broadway-Bound REAR WINDOW; Full Creative Team Announced!

The forthcoming Broadway production REAR WINDOW has found its creative team in playwright Keith Reddin(Too Much Memory, Life and Limb) and director Terry Kinney (reasons to be pretty, One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest). The play will be adapted from Cornell Woolrich's original short story, the iconic and haunting tale of the wheelchair-bound witness to a possible murder in his neighboring New York City apartment. Steppenwolf Theatre Hosts NEXT UP 2012, 6/5-24

This June Steppenwolf Theatre Company will present the second annual Next Up: three productions presented in rotating repertory, June 5 - 24, 2012 in The Steppenwolf Garage (1624 N Halsted St). Next Up is presented in collaboration with Northwestern University's MFA programs in Direction and Design, and features the work of graduates of those programs with casts of professional Chicago actors: Life and Limbby Keith Reddin, directed by Emily Campbell; South of Settling by Emily Schwend, directed by Adam Goldstein; and The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams, directed by Laley Lippard. The directors and designers make their Steppenwolf debut under the mentorship of Steppenwolf staff and artists, including ensemble member Anna D. Shapiro and scenic designer Todd Rosenthal-both members of the Northwestern faculty-as well as Steppenwolf Associate Artistic Director Erica Daniels. (more...)
