Park Square's HOT CHOCOLATE Plays for 11 Performances in December

A young couple juggles competing family expectations during the holidays, literally shopping ‘til they drop. When they finally stop for a cup of hot chocolate, they discover the 'secret recipe' that weaves the diverse threads of their lives into new traditions, and reminds us that love and family are at the heart of the holidays. Director/playwright Austene Van and actor/singer Thomasina Petrus last collaborated on Park Square's stage in Gee's Bend (October 2010). Together, they have conceived a contemporary new holiday story filled with music-Hot Chocolate -on stage for 11 performances at Park Square Theatre. Petrus, well known to Park Square audiences for her performances in Constant Star and Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill, is joined by Julius Collins III, making his Park Square debut. (more...)

Boca Raton Theatre Guild Announces 2011 - 2012 Season

The Boca Raton Theatre Guild announced the plays it has selected for its 2011-2012 season: Sarah Jones' Bridge and Tunnel, Charles Busch's Tales of the Allergist's Wife, the musical Sweet Charity, and Paulette Dozier in Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill. Jazz Artist Paulette Dozier to Perform in February & March in Coral Gables and Miami Beach

Paulette Dozier has a busy February and March ahead of her. Tomorrow, February 13th the acclaimed jazz vocalist will be the featured artist in the popular Jazz in the Gables series; on February 15th she will perform live on WLRN's South Florida Arts Beat; and from March 8th through March 24th she will reprise her role as Billie Holiday in Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill at the Miami Beach Stage Door at the Byron Carlyle Theatre. PAULETTE DOZIER - Jazz Artist In Concert At Delray's Arts Garage Jazz Project

Paulette Dozier has produced two very well received CDs; With You (2005), and Over & Over (2007), and is planning to release a third album in the fall of 2012.The Carbonell Award nominated actress will appear as jazz great Billie Holiday in the Boca Raton Theatre Guild's production of 'Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill' in late April. Porchlight Music Theatre will celebrate Black History Month, with the third production in their 2012 - 2013 season, Lanie Robertson's Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill, February 2 - March 10, 2013, starring Alexis Rogers as Billie Holiday and directed by Porchlight Artistic Associate Rob Lindley with music direction by Jaret Landon, at Stage 773, 1225 West Belmont Ave. Previews are Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013 at 8 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013 at 2 and 6 p.m. and Monday, Feb. 4, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. Opening/Press Night is Tuesday, Feb. 5 at 7:30 p.m. The regular run schedule is Fridays at 8 p.m., Saturdays at 4 and 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Tickets are $30 for previews and $39 for all other performances.
