Jez Butterworth’s new play THE HILLS OF CALIFORNIA, Directed by Sam Mendes, Will Open on Broadway this fall! The play will perform a limited engagement at the Broadhurst Theatre with previews beginning in September.

Winner of both the Tony and Olivier Award for Best Play and the Pulitzer Prize for author Bruce Norris, Clybourne Park is a razor-sharp satire about the politics of race and real estate. The play returns to London following sell out runs at The Royal Court and in the West End.

Joining the previously announced Michael Fox (Jim/Tom), Andrew Langtree (Karl/Steve), Richard Lintern (Russ/Dan), Imogen Stubbs (Bev/Kathy) and Eric Underwood (Albert/Kevin) are Katie Matsell (Betsy/Lindsey) and Aliyah Odoffin (Francine/Lena).

Having had to shut down the production of Bruce Norris' seminal play Clybourne Park at final dress rehearsal in March 2020, Trish Wadley Productions and David Adkin, in association with Park Theatre, have announced that the production, originally planned for the play's 10th anniversary year, will open at the venue in March.

The next Musical Theatre Melodies broadcast, hosted by Rob Morrison on 96.5 FM on Tuesday, November 2 will mark the 60th anniversary of the Robert Wright and George Forrest musical KEAN (from a play by Jean-Paul Sartre and the comedy by Alexandre Dumas).

Oliver Kaderbhai directs Alisha Bailey (Francine/Lena), Maddy Hill (Betsy/Lindsey), Andrew Langtree (Karl/Steve), and Richard Lintern (Russ/Dan), who join the previously announced Michael Fox (Jim/Tom), Imogen Stubbs (Bev/Kathy) and Eric Underwood (Albert/Kevin). The production opens on 30 March, with previews from 25 March, and runs until 2 May.

 Premiere Stages, the professional theatre company in residence at Kean University, has expanded the Bauer Boucher Award to offer two awards a?" one to a budding student playwright and one to an emerging alumni playwright. The expansion of the award is made possible as part of a major five-year sustaining gift from longtime Premiere Stages donors W. John Bauer and Nancy Boucher. In addition to a cash prize of $1000 or $2000, the 2020 winners also received a professional public reading of their play as performed by professional equity actors, followed by a Q & A with the playwright, audience, and the producing artistic director of Premiere Stages, John J. Wooten, who directed both readings.

After a successful run in Central Park, playing to over 4,000 people, performances resume on Wednesday, June 27 in Rockefeller Park/Battery Park City for New York Classical Theatre's critically acclaimed production of Romeo and Juliet, directed by the company's Founding Artistic Director Stephen Burdman. The production will play this week through June 30, before continuing on to The Battery, Carl Schurz Park, and Brooklyn Bridge Park for performances through July 29. New York Classical Theatre (Stephen Burdman, Artistic Director), New York City's only all-free professional Off-Broadway theatre company, is pleased to announce a new production of William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet to celebrate its 19th Anniversary Season. The production, directed by Mr. Burdman, is the company's first staging of Shakespeare's tale of star-crossed lovers, and will be presented in five New York City parks - Central Park, Rockefeller Park/Battery Park City, The Battery, Carl Schurz Park and Brooklyn Bridge Park - with performances from June 5 through July 29 at 7:00 PM. There is no ticketing, and all performances are free and open to the public. New York Classical Theatre also invites audiences to experience unique behind-the-scenes access to open rehearsals on selected dates for each of the five park stagings.

The Public Theater (Artistic Director, Oskar Eustis; Executive Director, Patrick Willingham) announced complete casting today for the New York premiere of MISS YOU LIKE HELL. With book and lyrics by Quiara Alegr a Hudes and music and lyrics by Erin McKeown, the new musical is directed by Public Theater Resident Director and Founder of Public Works Lear deBessonet, with choreography by Danny Mefford. The musical will begin previews in The Public's Newman Theater on Tuesday, March 20 and run through Sunday, May 6, with an official press opening on Tuesday, April 10.

Members of the NJSO Chamber Players will perform the Aaron Jay Kernis string quartet that the composer later orchestrated as Musica celestis in a special NJSO Accent event with Kernis on Friday, October 13, at 6:45 pm at the Richardson Auditorium in Princeton. The New Jersey Symphony Orchestra's 8 pm concert includes the NJSO premiere of Kernis' ethereal work for string orchestra.

The Riverside Opera Company (ROC), under the direction of Maestro Alan Aurelia, presents: A Wedding in Song and Dance a performance that includes tri-state area audition winners Soprano Sun Young Chang and Tenor Seunghwan Oh performing excerpts from La Boheme, performances by Dawn Daniels and Dancers performing traditional Irish Jigs and Reels; Lydias School of Dance performing ballets from Aida by Verdi accompanied by pianist Olga Gurevich. The Kean Theatre Conservatory will open its 2016-2017 season this week with Jesus Hopped the 'A' Train by Pulitzer Prize winner Stephen Adly Guirgis (October 14 - 22, Zella Fry Theatre). An Olivier nominee for Best New Play, Jesus Hopped the 'A' Train premiered Off-Broadway at Labyrinth Theater Company in 2000 under the direction of the late Philip Seymour Hoffman. Praised by The New York Times as a "probing, intense portrait of lives behind bars," Jesus Hopped the 'A' Train chronicles the story of Angel Cruz, who has recently been moved into maximum security at Rikers Island. While in protective custody he meets Lucius Jenkins, a sociopathic serial killer awaiting extradition to the state of Florida for execution. Linked by fate and facing an unpredictable outcome, Angel and Lucius tangle over questions of innocence and guilt, crime and punishment, and individual moral accountability.

Frank Farrell presents his adaptation of John Keats's only full-length play, retitled The Dark Ages: Otho the Great, based on the life of Otto I, German king in 936 CE and Holy Roman Emperor from 962 until his death in 973. The production depicts the tragic fate of Otho's valiant but hotheaded son Ludolph, whose unfaithful lover and her scheming brother induce him to rebel against his father and persecute his innocent cousin. The show runs 2 ½ hours with one intermission.
