2012 Tribeca Film Festival Announces World Narrative And Documentary Competition Selections

The 2012 Tribeca Film Festival (TFF), presented by American Express®, today announced the World Narrative and Documentary Competition film selections, along with selections for the out-of-competition Viewpoints section-the program established last year that highlights personal stories in international and independent cinema. Forty-six of the 90 feature-length films were announced. The 11th edition of the Festival will take place from April 18 to April 29 at locations around New York City. (more...)

Diana Landis Appointed Director of LA Children's Chorus' Apprentice Choir

Diana Landis, a noted conductor and music educator, has been appointed director of Los Angeles Children's Chorus' (LACC) Apprentice Choir. LACC Artistic Director Anne Tomlinson announced her appointment, which marks Landis' return to the chorus after a 10-year absence during which time she taught music in various capacities in Orange County. She replaces Larissa Donnelly, who relocated with her family to Texas. (more...)

A NIGHT AT THE OPERETTA on July 14th featured the sounds of Broadway music one rarely gets to hear anymore - Operetta - including music by Sigmund Romberg, Rudolph Friml and Victor Herbert. A NIGHT AT THE OPERETTA featured Alexander Gemignani, Lisa Howard, William Michals, Jennifer Hope Wills, Christine Andreas, Bill Daugherty, Brian Charles Rooney, Karen Murphy, John Easterlin, Jason Graae and Milla Ilieva. The show featured the dance talents of Eric Sean Fogel, J. Austin Eyer, Billy Harrigan Tighe, and Ben Franklin. Met Museum Presents Efterklang & the Wordless Music Orchestra, 9/22

Danish band Efterklang (translation: 'remembrance' and/or 'reverberation') plays the music from its new album Piramida (release date September 25). For this collaboration with the 16-member Wordless Music Orchestra and guest conductor Matthew Coorey, Efterklang has engaged composers Missy Mazzoli, Karsten Fundal, and Daníel Bjarnason to create arrangements of the music of Piramida for the ensemble with orchestra.
