In 1918, businessman Eng Tieng-Bin returns to his polygamous Chinese household after three years working abroad in the Philippines. As he seeks to introduce Western ways and a strange new religion -- Christianity -- to his traditional family, Tieng-Bin sets off a dangerous power struggle between his three wives, witnessed through the eyes of his favorite daughter.

Inspired by his own family history, David Henry Hwang's 1997 Obie Award-winning and 1998 Tony nominated Golden Child explores the often-painful process through which change comes to people and cultures.

Signature's GOLDEN CHILD Extends Again, Now Through 12/16

Signature Theatre has announced a second one-week extension for Golden Child by David Henry Hwang, directed by Leigh Silverman. The production will now play through Sunday, December 16. The production is currently in previews and opens on November 13 in The Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues). Signature Theatre's Golden Child, by David Henry Hwang, begins performances tonight directed by Leigh Silverman. All tickets for the initial run of the production are $25 as part of the Signature Ticket Initiative: A Generation of Access. Tickets for the already announced, one week extension are $75.
