A new Broadway season has arrived at last, full of exciting new shows and revivals of beloved classics. While many of them are original concepts or based on plays, 10 are already films that you can watch from home. Black Theatre Troupe has announced its spectacular 2023-24 season which includes a hilarious comedy, two musicals, an August Wilson masterwork, and the company's annual holiday show. Black Theatre Troupe marks its return to Tempe Center for the Arts with the groundbreaking musical, The Gospel at Colonus.

On Thursday, April 27th at 6:30pm, The Segal Theatre will present an evening celebrating the work of Linda Chapman and James C. Nicola at the legendary New York Theatre Workshop.

Award-winning Pantochino Productions, a professional not-for-profit theatre company in Milford will open its 2022-23 season with two musicals, Richard O’Brien’s  “The Rocky Horror Show” and a new family-friendly Halloween musical, “School Spirits.” The two shows will play in repertory from October 14 through 30 at the MAC, Milford Arts Council on Railroad Avenue in Downtown Milford.

Griffin Theatre Company has announced casting for its Midwest premiere of Marys Seacole by Pulitzer Prize winner Jackie Sibblies Drury, directed by Jerrell L. Henderson and Hannah Todd. Launching Griffin’s 33rd season, Marys Seacole will play October 1 – November 6, 2022 on Raven Theatre’s Schwartz Stage.

The 2022–23 season begins at the Curtis Institute of Music this October, with dynamic programming that includes orchestra, opera, and chamber music concerts, and recitals, totaling more than 150 performances in Philadelphia through May 2023.

Two performances of Virginia Rep on Tour’s adaptation of Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” will take place on Sunday, December 18 at 1:00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Based on the most discussed current events, Capitol Comedy will take aim at Washington politicians and social chatter through sketches, songs, and parodies in their new show, “Two Cheers for Democracy,” on Friday, January 13, 2023 at 8:00 p.m. 

Pasadena Playhouse has announced casting and creative team for the Los Angeles premiere of the Richard Nelson, Richard Pevear, and Larissa Volokhonsky translation of Uncle Vanya by Anton Chekhov coming to the Playhouse June 1 through June 26; the press opening is Sunday, June 5 at 5 p.m. 

Roundabout Theatre Company has announced the second season of The Refocus Project, its multiyear project to elevate and restore marginalized plays to the American canon.

Opening at the Arts Centre Melbourne’s Fairfax Theatre in March 2022, this entirely original stage adaptation of the iconic and provocative short story Yentl, is the first since the 1975 Broadway play, and the first new adaptation since the pop culture phenomenon that was Barbra Streisand’s 1983 musical film.
