YOU (PLURAL) Film Adaptation of ULYSSES, HAMLET and ODYSSEY Launches Kickstarter Campaign

Novels, such as James Joyce's 'Ulysses,' 'Hamlet' and Homer's 'Odyssey,' are classic works of literature that are loved by many. These famous stories have captivated many with their compelling plots, infamous lessons and powerful morals. Unfortunately, the power of these inspirational books is lost on high school students and younger generations. However, a new feature film on Kickstarter from 'You (Plural)' is taking these beloved novels, and adapting them to become more relatable in today's modern world. (more...)

LES MISERABLES to Kick Off Theatre Aspen's 2013 Season, Begin. 6/25

Theatre Aspen announced final casting for its 30th summer season this week. The summer repertory season includes the Tony Award-winning epic Les Miserables, opening June 25th, the one-man comedy Fully Committed, opening July 6th and You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, which opens July 12th. Arizona Theatre Company's Artistic Director David Ira Goldstein Resigns

Arizona Theatre Company announced today that David Ira Goldstein, ATC's Artistic Director since 1992, will be leaving the Company in December of 2013. In his 21 seasons as artistic director, Goldstein led the Company to unprecedented levels of attendance, critical acclaim, community support, educational outreach and national prominence. During his tenure, he produced over 200 plays, workshops, readings and presentations in Phoenix and Tucson, while personally directing more than 40 mainstage productions ranging from classics to new plays to musicals. Tim Zagat's reservation is lost (yes, it's that Zagat!), and they are waiting - waiting! - in the lounge. Supermodel Naomi Campbell wasn't happy with the lighting the last time she was in - it was a bit harsh. How far away is her table from the sconce? BWW Reviews: Dance Now Presents MY NAME IS BARBRA/ ADAM

Adam Barruch captivated audiences at Joe's Pub this week in his one man show, My Name is Barbra ADAM. From the moment Barruch stepped on stage, he was Fully Committed to the character of a mental patient, conveyed incisively through contemporary dance numbers. Utilizing a small space, Barruch moved exquisitely, whether it was a small hand gesture or a huge lunge. His movement, at times quick and spastic, at other times fluid and controlled, communicated the agony a mental patient experiences when locked in a room alone with his derailed thoughts. Though he executed no large jumps or dizzying turns, his choreography was breathtaking and certainly the highlight of the show. (more...)

Theatre Aspen Launches New Apprentice Program

A new Theatre Aspen Apprentice Program was announced today. The award-winning Equity theatre will invite ten aspiring theatre professionals to Aspen for an entire summer, to work alongside professionals in all aspects of theatre production. Theatre Aspen supporters and Aspen residents Jessica and John Fullerton will underwrite the program for its first three years. In January, the organization was named "Non Profit of the Year" in the region with hundreds of local not-for-profits. (more...)

According to the Daily Mail, Tamsin Carroll will play 'Charity Barnum' alongside Broadway's Christopher Fitzgerald as 'P. T. Barnum' in BARNUM at the Chichester Festival Theatre from July 15. The production will be directed by Timothy Sheader. (more...)
