News Desk - Apr 25, 2013Beginning in April, 2013, 1812 Productions will present the world premiere comedy It's My Party: The Women and Comedy Project, created and directed by 1812 Productions' Artistic Director, Jennifer Childs, and featuring a diverse ensemble of Philadelphia actresses. A production which will use physical comedy, storytelling, and music in a one-of-a-kind theatrical event, the creative process for It's My Party: The Women and Comedy Project began in 2010 with two questions: how do women use comedy and how does that usage change as they age. With these pointed inquiries as her guides, Ms. Childs embarked on three inclusive and ongoing initiatives which, together, would form the core of the Project. (more...)

Boston Marathon Announces Boston Moving Company Gentle Giant as Official Moverby BWW News Desk - Apr 12, 2013Gentle Giant Moving Company, an award winning local and long distance mover based in Massachusetts with offices across the country, today announced that it will act as the official mover of the Boston Marathon for the 17th consecutive year. Taking place on Monday, April 15, the 117th Boston Marathon requires the transportation and storage of supplies, food, beverage, signage, and athletic equipment for the approximately 30,000 participants and volunteers at the legendary road race. Gentle Giant will take on its traditional pre-race and marathon day role of planning and managing these logistics with the Boston Athletic Association staff. (more...)
Jeff Buckley Musical, THE LAST GOODBYE, to Play Old Globe This Octoberby BWW News Desk - Apr 10, 2013The Old Globe will open its 2013-14 Season with The Last Goodbye, a new musical that marries Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet and the incendiary songs of the legendary singer-songwriter Jeff Buckley. Conceived and adapted by Michael Kimmel, the rock musical is directed by two-time Tony Award nominee Alex Timbers (Peter and the Starcatcher, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson). Choreography is by Sonya Tayeh ("So You Think You Can Dance"), and orchestrations, music direction and arrangements are by Kris Kukul. The complete creative team and casting, as well as the remainder of the Globe's new season, will be announced at a later date. The Last Goodbye will run on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center, Sept. 20 - Nov. 3, 2013. Preview performances run Sept. 20 - Oct. 5. Opening night is Sunday, Oct. 6. Tickets are currently available by subscription only.
