The RRazz Room, San Francisco's premier nightclub, will welcome back acclaimed entertainer Lypsinka for a special two-week engagement from tonight, September 4 to 16 to celebrate Lypsinka's 30th anniversary. She will recreate the widely popular show 'The Passion of the Crawford' - a fab fantasia about the refraction of celebrity and addiction to fame - for the first time in the Bay Area in more than five years. With uncanny precision and unforgettable pizzazz, John Epperson - also known as Lypsinka - pays homage to ultimate screen-queen Joan Crawford. Using the actress' own words, The Passion of the Crawford is a fantasia on the persona of this 20th Century cultural icon. Washington City Paper has called Lypsinka 'certifiably fabulous,' while the Los Angeles Times dubbed her 'a geyser of glamour!' Friends In Deed will present a legendary trio as Charles Busch, Whoopi Goldberg and Lypsinka star in the first-ever New York presentation of the infamous Broadway-play-that-wasn't, LEGENDS!. Written by Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winner James Kirkwood (A Chorus Line), the play will be presented in a special One Night Only staged reading benefit on Monday evening, March 23 at 8PM at Town Hall (123 West 43rd Street). Axis Company will present an encore engagement of EAST 10TH STREET: SELF PORTRAIT WITH EMPTY HOUSE, a play by and about Downtown performance icon Edgar Oliver. Originally presented in November of 2008, this stark and enigmatic look at a life on the fringes of New York's Lower East Side was acclaimed by critics and embraced by record-breaking audiences at Axis. The production comes on the heels of what could be Oliver's breakthrough role in the upcoming film from Napoleon Dynamite's Jared Hess, Gentlemen Broncos, opposite Sam Rockwell as well as a national advertising campaign for mobile phones in Ireland that has also become a cult phenomenon. Directed by Randy Sharp, and presented on an Off-Broadway contract, performances of this limited engagement begin February 12. (more...)

EAST 10TH STREET: SELF PORTRAIT WITH EMPTY HOUSE a new play by and about downtown icon Edgar Oliver, hold encore performances 2/12-2/28. This look at a life on the fringes of New York's Lower East Side comes on the heels of what could be Oliver's breakthrough role in the upcoming film from Napoleon Dynamite's Jared Hess, Gentlemen Broncos, opposite Sam Rockwell as well as a national ad campaign for mobile phones in Ireland that has become a cult phenomenon. This limited run Off-Broadway engagement is directed by Randy Sharp at Axis Theater where it premiered to critical acclaim in November 2008. In EAST 10TH STREET: SELF PORTRAIT WITH EMPTY HOUSE, downtown theatre icon Edgar Oliver takes the audience on a macabre voyage through the strange rooms of the apartment house where he has lived since his first years in New York. Inhabiting the dark, mysterious halls of this East Village tenement building are a dwarf Cabalist, a possible Nazi, the landlord's former wet nurse who apparently lives in a nest of rags, and many others.
