Pulse Ensemble Theatre to Present THE TAMING OF THE SHREW, 7/24-8/4

The critically acclaimed PULSE ENSEMBLE THEATRE, celebrating its 24th season, and Artistic Director Alexa Kelly are pleased to present the 9th season of Harlem Summer Shakespeare with free performances of Shakespeare's THE TAMING OF THE SHREW, directed by Kelly. THE TAMING OF THE SHREW will play a four-week limited engagement in the glorious Amphitheatre in Riverbank State Park (679 Riverside Drive @ 145th Street). Performances begin Wednesday, July 10 and continue through Sunday, August 4. Opening Night is Thursday, July 11 (8 p.m.). (more...)


RWS & Associates to Produce Original Shows for Holland America Cruise Line

Emmy Award-winning NYC based entertainment firm RWS and Associates Entertainment, Inc. has been tapped by Holland America Line as part of a renewed commitment to revolutionize the way live stage entertainment is presented aboard their premium cruise ships. Under the new partnership, RWS will produce five new and original, Broadway-level stage productions for the completely remodeled main stage theaters onboard ms Eurodam and ms Westerdam. Each production will employ directors and choreographers straight from Broadway, dynamic performers and state of the art technology to bring the Great White Way directly to Holland America Line passengers around the world. The New York Musical Theatre Festival and Retrop Productions will present JULIAN PO, a new musical with book and lyrics by Andrew Barrett and music by Ira Antelis, from July 8 to 14, 2013. JULIAN PO, which mixes comedy and drama, opens in New York after a critically-acclaimed, sold-out run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival where it was nominated for "Best Book of a Musical." JULIAN PO, based on the book La mort de monsieur Golouja by Branimir Š?epanovi? and the screenplay "Julian Po" by Alan Wade, features elements of pop, rock, country, bluegrass and gospel. JULIAN PO is an official selection of The New York Musical Theatre Festival's "2013 Next Link Project." The show is directed by Kirsten Sanderson with music direction by Mark Hartman. (more...)

Sackler Center for Feminist Art First Awards at the Brooklyn Museum on June 13 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. The award, which honors women who have broken gender barriers to make remarkable contributions in their fields, will be bestowed on Taymor, winner of the Tony Award for Best Direction of a Musical in 1998.
