49 million people in the U.S.-one in four children-don't know where their next meal is coming from, despite our having the means to provide nutritious, affordable food for all Americans. Directors Kristi Jacobson and Lori Silverbush examine this issue through the lens of three people who are struggling with food insecurity: Barbie, a single Philadelphia mother who grew up in poverty and is trying to provide a better life for her two kids; Rosie, a Colorado fifth-grader who often has to depend on friends and neighbors to feed her and has trouble concentrating in school; and Tremonica, a Mississippi second-grader whose asthma and health issues are exacerbated by the largely empty calories her hardworking mother can afford. Magnolia Pictures Acquires PRINCE AVALANCHE, Starring Paul Rudd

The Wagner/Cuban Company's Magnolia Pictures announced today that they have acquired North American rights to PRINCE AVALANCHE after its rapturously received Sunday premiere at the Sundance Film Festival. The new film from writer/director David Gordon Green, PRINCE AVALANCHE stars Paul Rudd and Emile Hirsch, and was produced by Lisa Muskat, Derrick Tseng, Craig Zobel (director of Magnolia's 2012 release Compliance), James Belfer and David Gordon Green. Magnolia Pictures Acquires BIG STAR: NOTHING CAN HURT ME

The Wagner/Cuban Company's Magnolia Pictures announced today that they have acquired North American rights to BIG STAR: NOTHING CAN HURT ME, the definitive documentary about the beloved and influential 70s rock band Big Star. Directed by Drew DeNicola and Oliva Mori, the film was produced by Mori and Danielle McCarthy, executive-produced by John Fry, founder of Ardent Studios, with Gill Holland and David Armillei, and co-produced by Brian Sprouse. HANNIBAL Set for April Premiere on NBC

NBC's Hannibal has (finally) received a premiere date. HANNIBAL, featuring one of the most fascinating literary characters: psychiatrist-turned-serial killer, will officially premiere on April 4 at 10PM. The drama adaptation of of Thomas Harris' novels takes the time slot formerly held by the short-lived DO NO HARM. (more...)

Sundance Institute Announces Jury Members for 2013 Sundance Film Festival

Sundance Institute announced today 19 members of five juries awarding prizes at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, January 17-27 in Park City, Salt Lake City, Ogden and Sundance, Utah.
