Career Transition For Dancers Announces WINTER HEAT Latin Dance Party on Mar. 9 at Rainbow Room

Career Transition For Dancers and the Harbor Conservatory for the Performing Arts, a division of Boys & Girls Harbor, Inc., present WINTER HEAT Latin Dance Party on Monday, March 9, at 7pm at the beautiful Rainbow Room 30 Rockefeller Plaza (49th St. entrance) 65th Floor NYC. This is the 5th joint benefit evening that will once again include dancing to the sounds of the 22-piece Harbor Latin Big Band and a performance by the Harbor Conservatory's Gestures Dance Ensemble, now celebrating their 20th Anniversary that will be choreographed by Tony Meredith and Melanie LaPatin. The Dance Duo of Manuel Favilla and Karolina Paliwoda will also perform. There will also be Latin dance lessons. (more...)


Desire Under the Elms Starring Dennehy and Gugino Headed to Broadway's St. James Theatre

Enter A Fairy Tale World With ROSE AND THE RIME 2/19-4/11

The House Theatre of Chicago invites Chicagoans to be captivated by fairy tale, witches, myth and magic with its newest production ROSE AND THE RIME, written by the creative team Chris Mathews, Jake Minton and Nathan Allen. The original Midwestern fairy tale will play the Chopin Theatre (1543 W. Division St.) February 19 to April 11, 2009. Tickets go on sale Friday, January 30, 2009 at 10 a.m. The tiny Michigan town of Radio Falls has been trapped in perpetual winter for a generation. Snow and ice coat every tree branch and telephone wire, and the constant blizzard surrounding the town means there's no way in or out. The last moment of heated passion brought the town its only remaining youth: a girl named Rose. It is up to her to save Radio Falls from the vicious curse of the Rime Witch. But when she succeeds, Radio Falls discovers the witch's magic coin has two sides... ROSE AND THE RIME is a modern version of The House's favorite myth - a reminder that anything powerful enough to fulfill your dreams is powerful enough to destroy them. (more...)

Enjoy an evening with The House Theatre of Chicago and its newest production, ROSE AND THE RIME. The original Midwestern fairy tale will play the Chopin Theatre (1543 W. Division St.) February 19 to April 11, 2009. Special offers and events are currently available. ROSE AND THE RIME Benefit Night with Peter Sagal House enthusiasts are invited to join Peter Sagal, host of NPR's Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me (and House board member) for a panel discussion at 7 p.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2009 at the Chopin Theatre (1534 W. Division St.). A wine and dessert reception will take place prior to the panel and all participants are invited to watch a special performance of ROSE AND THE RIME at 8:30 p.m. Panelists will be Company member and ROSE AND THE RIME cast member Carolyn Defrin (The Sparrow, Dave DaVinci Saves the Universe), director Nathan Allen, lighting designer Lee Keenan and co-writer Chris Matthews. In the middle of a howling snowstorm, a bus out of Kansas City pulls up at a cheerful roadside diner. Turner Injury Forces MCC to Cancel 'THIRD STORY' 2/19 - 2/20 Performances

The show will go on, just not tonight and tomorrow as the February 19 and 20 performances of The MCC Theatre's THE THIRD STORY at the Lucille Lortel Theatre, have been canceled due to an off stage injury that Kathleen Turner has suffered. BC/EFA's Broadway Bears XII Raises $152,116

Broadway lovers and teddy bear collectors came together on Sunday, February 15, at the BROADWAY BEARS XII auction, which raised a grand total of $152,116! The event was hosted by Bryan Batt with Lorna Kelly reprising her role as auctioneer. Forty specially made BROADWAY BEARS ? each dressed in original, handmade costumes representing the theater?s most legendary characters - were auctioned to the highest bidder in support of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. Last year?s BROADWAY BEARS raised $130,878 and the grand total for all 12 Broadway Bears auctions is $1,644,077.18 with over 500 bears auctioned. (more...)
