BWW Reviews: Adelaide Cabaret Fringe – CRAZY WITH SONDHEIM Pleases Fans of His Musicals

Stephen Sondheim has written songs for many crazy people in his musicals, some permanently so, and some pushed beyond their limits by circumstances who become temporarily that way. Sondheim's music is often exceptionally difficult and a classically trained trio, Blake Parham and Tahlia Ries, accompanied by Joshua Mollart on keyboard, is an ideal combination to do his work justice. Ben Rimalower's PATTI ISSUES to Play Second Performance at Mary's Attic, 6/14

BEN RIMALOWER: "PATTI ISSUES" - the hit Off Broadway solo play hailed as "ecstatically vivid" by The New York Times and praised for its "wit, feeling and conviction" by Time Out New York - has added a second performance for its Chicago premiere due to high ticket demand. In addition to the show on Thursday, June 13, there will be an additional show on Friday, June 14. Both will be at Mary's Attic at 8:00 PM. After rave reviews and a host of awards, the New York production of "PATTI ISSUES" was recently extended for the sixth time and will run through June 29 at The Duplex in the West Village. York Theatre to Present Reading of FICTION IN PHOTOGRAPHS, 6/13

The York Theatre Company and its acclaimed Developmental Reading Series kicks off the summer with Janet Brenner co-producing Fiction In Photographs, an original musical conceived and directed by Randy Redd, with Book by Dan Elish and Music & Lyrics by Dan Mills. With music direction by Adam Podd, the five-member cast will feature Cole Burden, Van Hughes, David Larsen, Lauren Pritchard and Ali Stroker. Michael Aaron Lindner & Summer Naomi Smart to Lead Chicago Shakespeare Theater's SHREK Shrek; Full Cast Announced!

Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST) announced today the acting company and creative team for Shrek The Musical, the Theater's annual summer family musical, directed and choreographed by Rachel Rockwell with music direction by Michael Mahler, July 13-September 1, 2013 in CST's Courtyard Theater. Based on the Academy Award-winning DreamWorks film and the book by William Steig, CST's 75-minute production ofShrek The Musical will take audiences on an unconventional fairy-tale adventure with everyone's favorite ogre. The production features two Jeff Award-winning actors: Michael Aaron Lindner as the lovable ogre Shrek and Summer Naomi Smart in her CST debut as the spunky Princess Fiona. Cygnet Theatre's ongoing love affair with the works of Stephen Sondheim (A Little Night Music, Sweeney Todd, Assassins) continues as their new season launches with Company, the Tony Award-winning musical exploration of marriage and commitment. Company is a musical comedy based on a book by George Furth with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. The original production premiered in 1970 and was nominated for a record-setting fourteen Tony Awards and won six. Company runs July 5th through August 18. (more...)

Red Branch Theatre Co. to Launch New Summer Cabaret Series, 7/13

Red Branch Theatre Company will hold its first series of one-night only cabaret performances this summer at Drama Learning Center in Columbia, MD. Each cabaret will consist of a solo or group headliner that regales audiences with a themed evening of songs and stories in a cabaret setting.
