Chanticleers Theatre (a?oeChanticleersa??) is proud to present Cabaret, Book by Joe Masteroff, Based on the play by John Van Druten and Stories by Christopher Isherwood, Music by John Kander, and Lyrics by Fred Ebb.

In a Berlin nightclub, as the 1920's draw to a close, a garish Master of Ceremonies welcomes the audience and assures them they will forget all their troubles at the CABARET. With the Emcee's bawdy songs as wry commentary, CABARET explores the dark, heady, and tumultuous life of Berlin's natives and expatriates as Germany slowly yields to the emerging Third Reich. Cliff, a young American writer newly arrived in Berlin, is immediately taken by English singer Sally Bowles. Meanwhile, Fräulein Schneider, proprietor of Cliff and Sally's boarding house, tentatively begins a romance with Herr Schultz, a mild-mannered fruit seller who happens to be Jewish. Reagle Music Theatre of Greater Boston opens its 51st summer season with Mame from June 13-23, 2019 starring IRNE and Norton Award winner Leigh Barrett as "Auntie Mame, " an irrepressible 1920's socialite whose New York life is changed forever when her orphaned nephew comes to live with her. Additional featured cast members include Maureen Keiller as 'Vera Charles,' Katie O'Reilly as 'Agnes Gooch', and Mark Linehan as 'Beauregard Burnside'. The show will run from February 27th-March 9th in Helen Theatre at Playhouse Square.

Eowyn Ivey's debut novel The Snow Child is reborn as a magical new musical featuring a score that combines Alaskan string-band traditions and contemporary musical theater. On November 17t, SubCulture will present the show in a concert adaptation featuring KATE BALDWIN, MATT BOGART, FINA STRAZZA, GERARD CANONICO, SALLY MAYES and WILLIAM PARRY.

The show will open on April 27th and run three weekends at the DAC's Weatherstone Studio. For this special production, Darien Arts Center Stage, the DAC's community theatre group, has augmented their pool of talent with that of The Lipstick Project, an all-female theatre group from Darien and surrounding towns, with a mission of empowering women through artistic opportunity and expression.

Between college productions and the many local theatres we have, it may seem there is always a production of the Kander and Ebb Tony winning classic Cabaret running. However, when you have a wonderful production like the one at BayWay Arts Centre, it indeed warrants another look.
