I am not lying when I say I never look this put together when traveling. I always think I have put together the perfect comfy yet not sloppy but still effortless look and I still manage to look so blah. Julie Taymor to be Honored at the 2013 Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art First Awards at Brooklyn Museum

Award-winning theatre, opera, and film director Julie Taymor will be honored at the 2013 Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art First Awards at the Brooklyn Museum on June 13 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. The award, which honors women who have broken gender barriers to make remarkable contributions in their fields, will be bestowed on Taymor, winner of the Tony Award for Best Direction of a Musical in 1998. It will be presented by Museum Trustee Elizabeth A. Sackler and followed by a conversation between Taymor and feminist icon Gloria Steinem. (more...)

Paul Hope's Bayou City Concert Musicals (BCCM) is proudly continuing their mission of bringing to Houston the best of the best from show business' yesteryears. Sometimes it is in the form of a forgotten or neglected musical, like their concert stagings of ONE TOUCH OF VENUS, THE SECRET GARDEN, and FINNAN'S RAINBOW. At other events, Paul Hope stages a cabaret of a composer's hits and erstwhile gems. Last Monday, BCCM premiered their cabaret entitled ALONE TOGETHER: THE SONGS OF ARTHUR SCHWARTZ. Arthur Schwartz composed for the Broadway productions THE BAND WAGON, A TREE GROWS IN BROOKLYN, and others. I feel like Michael Kors on Project Runway when I say, I just want to take a pair of scissors and cut that tail off Victoria Justice's dress!! I like the whole high/low hemline but on the right thing. I personally think it works far better on a more flowing fabric and on a maxi length. This is way too severe of a difference in the lengths and makes it look like Guess couldn't decide. My advice? Cut off the tail! (more...)

But that's a topic for another time. Let's just say, if I could wake up and have anyone's body, it would probably be Lake Bell's. Bell looked as effortlessly beautiful as ever at the LA premiere of Black Rock this week wearing a gold lace dress by Lyn Devon. Maybe Palermo and Bosworth and Diane Kruger can join forces and become like fashion's Charlie's Angels and save women from making tragic fashion mistakes. Too much? Fine, maybe in my dream world.
