Maureen McGovern returns to The RRazz Room to perform her new show, 'dangling conversations...' With an introspective look at our very unintrospective times, she celebrates the music of singer/songwriters from the American Pop Songbook, with songs by Paul Simon, J.D. Souther, Don Henley, Joni Mitchell, Bruce Springstein, Jimmy Webb, Pete Seeger, Laura Nyro, among others, including classic songs such as 'Help Me,' 'Time and Love,' 'Turn, Turn, Turn,' 'An American Tune,' 'Up Up and Away', 'Faithless Love' and many more. Looking Ahead to the Boston Pops New Season with Bernadette Peters & More!

Recently, conductor Keith Lockhart was joined by Bernadette Peters to present the schedule for the Boston Pops' Spring 2012 season. Peters was the guest during the Opening Night concert at Boston's beautiful Symphony Hall. As stellar as she is, Peters is only one of the sensational artists who have been scheduled to appear with the Boston Pops which is celebrating its 127th season. On June 5th, 6th and 7th, Broadway's Marin Mazzie and Jason Danieley will perform "A Tribute to Cole Porter". American Idol's Melinda Doolittle will join Gospel singer Crystal Aitkin and Charles Floyd for the 20th Gospel Night Celebration on June 9th. Although many people know Steve Martin as a comic actor and playwright, he is also a very serious musician who will be bringing his bluegrass band, The Steep Canyon Rangers, to play with the Pops on May 29th and 30th. Anne Hampton Callaway, who is one of the premier interpreters of the American Songbook will bring her unique stylings to what is being billed as "The Barbra Streisand Songbook" on May 15th and 16th. Singer Maureen McGovern will join the Pops to sing selections from her Broadway show LITTLE WOMEN as a tribute to the novel's author Louisa May Alcott. (more...)

INTO THE WOODS, DEATH OF A SALESMAN and More Set for Grand Theatre's 2012-13 Season

The Grand Theatre will be presenting four productions and a concert series as part of the 2012-2013 season. The exciting lineup includes the family-friendly season opener, "Into the Woods", which will play October 11-27. Following, three productions that are rarely done in Utah will be presented, including: "The Voice of the Prairie" January 24-February 9, "Death of a Salesman" March 7-23, and "La Cage Aux Folles" running May 9-25. Today we are talking to a two-time Tony Award winning lyricist and book writer who was responsible for the 2010 Best Musical winner, MEMPHIS, and who has since written the libretto of the Gershwin revue NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET and received a well-earned Tony nomination for his efforts; one of the show's ten nods - Joe DiPietro. In this concluding portion of our conversation, DiPietro and I break down the process of creating NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT and he comments on the starry cast - including Matthew Broderick, Kelli O'Hara, Judy Kaye and Estelle Parsons - and the process of collaboration in bringing the 2012 Tony Awards top nominee to the Broadway stage. STAGE TUBE: Jenny Powers and Matt Cavenaugh on THE TODAY SHOW

On The Today Show July 12, Broadway's Jenny Powers sang Kathie Lee Gifford and David Friedman's most recent collaboration, 'You Do The Impossible,' on the 'Everyone Has a Story' segment honoring triathlete and cancer survivor Molli Serrano. In honor of the 100th anniversary of the Titanic's epic voyage, The 5th Avenue Theatre is presenting Titanic: The Concert. With music and lyrics by Maury Yeston and book by Peter Stone, Titanic: The Concert is a unique way to celebrate the centennial of one of the most memorable events of the last century. Actors will sing with the support of a 25-piece orchestra and the 80 voices of the award-winning Pacific Lutheran University Choral Union. Rachel York will join Megan Hilty in the Encores! production of Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, opening May 9 at New York City Center. York will play the brunette, Dorothy Shaw, best friend of Lorelei, the diamond-loving blonde played by Hilty.
