Imagem Music Group Expands with R&H Theatricals Europe

The Imagem Music Group, owner of some of the world's most popular musicals including The Sound of Music and The King and I, is expanding its US-based theatrical licensing division, R&H Theatricals, with the creation of a European branch headquartered in the London offices of Imagem UK. R&H Theatricals Europe will represent a catalogue of Broadway evergreens (South Pacific, Oklahoma!) and contemporary classics (Footloose, White Christmas) throughout the UK and across the European market. Franz Welser-Most conducts The Cleveland Orchestra and an international cast in concert performances of Richard Strauss's SALOME at Severance Hall on Saturday, May 26, at 8 p.m. The opera will also be presented at New York's Carnegie Hall, tonight, May 24, at 8 p.m. These will be the first Cleveland Orchestra performances of SALOME. Principal cast members are soprano Nine Stemme as SALOME, tenor Rudolf Schasching as Herod, mezzo-soprano Jane Henschel as Herodias, bass-baritone Eric Owens as Jochanaan, and tenor Garrett Sorenson as Narraboth. Ms. Stemme and Mr. Schasching make their Cleveland Orchestra debut with these performances. The opera will be performed in German, with projectEd English supertitles for the Severance Hall performances. (more...)

Single Tickets for Chicago Opera Theater's THE MAGIC FLUTE Go On Sale 8/10

This September, for the first time in eleven years, Chicago Opera Theater (COT) will present an opera in the fall: a new production of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's The Magic Flute. This is the first new production of The Magic Flute in Chicago in 17 years, the last being Chicago Opera Theater's production in 1995 at the Athenaeum Theatre. The opera will feature the Chicago premiere of the English translation by Jeremy Sams. The Magic Flute performs at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance in Millennium Park on September 15, 19, 21, and 23. (more...)

Cape Town Opera Announces PORGY & BESS Summer UK Tour Cast - Tsakane Maswanganyi & Xolela Sixaba Star

Cape Town Opera returns to the UK this June & July for a tour of their acclaimed Porgy and Bess, culminating in a two week run at the London Coliseum. Tsakane Maswanganyi, who previously thrilled audiences in the title role of Carmen Jones at the Royal Festival Hall will play Bess, while Xolela Sixaba will reprise the role of Porgy having won great acclaim for his performance in 2009. Photo Flash: Survivor Mitzvah Project Celebrities Raise Thousands for Holocaust Survivors

The Simon Wiesenthal Center's Museum of Tolerance, played host, on Sunday, April 22nd, to an evening of theatre, music and celebrity readings, that raised thousands in emergency funds to be sent to remaining Holocaust Survivors. An evening written by TV comedy director, Zane Buzby, and produced by Conan Berkley, Zane Buzby and Frances Fisher, used true stories of Holocaust Survivors, in the own words, that were read by such noted artists as Ed Asner, Frances Fisher, Elliott Gould, Valerie Harper, Lainie Kazan, Randal Keith, Arnold McCuller, Alan Rosenberg and Brenda Russell. Additional readings were given by Rabbi Moshe J. Kushman and Consul General of Israel, David Siegel. See photos from the event below! (more...)
