BWW Review: The Rescingos' DECK THE PAULS WITH BOUGHS OF ROBBIE at The Duplex
by Chris Struck - Dec 18, 2019

For anyone who happens to have ventured out to one of the Rescignos' holiday frolics over the last decade, you understand the incredible journey on which this epic twin duo takes their audience each year. Whether it's the puns and innuendos on Paul's latest costume, a massive stocking, or the 'serious-minded' Robbie cracking a grin after the audience erupts into teary-eyed laughter, this duo deserves a ton of applause for yet another well-orchestrated show.

You might think SHOW BOAT is impossibly quaint and politically incorrect. Well, it is, but an excellent CPCC Summer Theatre cast keeps the ol' boat afloat on 'Ol' Man River.'

BWW Review: I Like MOZART. Does That Make Me a Bad Person?
by Richard Sasanow - Aug 16, 2018

Lincoln Center's MOSTLY MOZART FESTIVAL is over for the season and finished up with a program that was an oddity because it wasn't mostly Mozart (or no Mozart) but all Mozart. Well, hooray for the 18th century. I was happy to be back in the bosom of the festival's namesake. Does that make me a bad person?

BWW Review: Park Square Theatre Reinvents a Classic Tale in the Endlessly Delightful BASKERVILLE: A SHERLOCK HOLMES MYSTERY
by Jill Schafer - Jul 6, 2018

Staging a mystery play during the summer is a longstanding tradition at Park Square Theatre, and I've come to look forward to it every year. It's always fun to immerse yourself in the light yet brain-teasing summer blockbuster fare. But their production of KEN LUDWIG'S BASKERVILLE: A SHERLOCK HOLMES MYSTERY is anything but traditional. This new play tells one of the most well known Sherlock stories in a fresh, fun, and imaginative way, with just five actors and a whirlwind, almost slapstick style. Director Theo Langason brings all the innovation and physical storytelling experience from Sandbox Theatre, of which he is an ensemble member, to bear on this wonderfully playful and endlessly delightful production. And the fantastic five-person cast is so playful and fun to watch, including a female Holmes and Watson, because why not?! At a time when so many of us need it, BASKERVILLE provides pure escapist summer fun.
