On March 8, 2013, The New York Pops continued its 30th season with an evening of swinging favorites in Luck Be a Lady: Megan Hilty Sings Sinatra and More. Music Director and Conductor Steven Reineke led the orchestra as it tipped its hat to the Rat Pack, Ella Fitzgerald, Marilyn Monroe, and other stars from the golden age of entertainment. The performance featured Megan Hilty, Broadway singer and star of the television show Smash, and Ryan Silverman, one of Broadway's favorite leading men. A GRAND NIGHT FOR SINGING to Play The Mercury Theater, 1/16-3/10

The Mercury Theater, 3745 N. Southport, begins its highly anticipated 2013 season with the exhilarating Broadway musical revue A GRAND NIGHT FOR SINGING, running from January 16 through March 10, 2013. The press opening is Today, January 20 at 2 p.m. The Tony Award-nominated musical showcases Richard Rodgers' timeless music and the incomparable lyrics of Oscar Hammerstein. Jeff Kready and More to to Join Laurie Veldheer in Paper Mill's THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE; Full Cast Announced!

Paper Mill Playhouse has announced the cast for Thoroughly Modern Millie, winner of the 2002 Drama Desk and Tony Award for Best Musical. This effervescent musical romp will feature Ashley Kate Adams (Miss Dorothy Brown), Brenda Braxton (Muzzy Van Hossmere), Billy Bustamante (Bun Foo), Jeff Kready (Jimmy Smith), Burke Moses (Mr. Trevor Graydon), Lenora Nemetz (Mrs. Meers), James Seol (Ching Ho), Jessica Sheridan (Miss Flannery) and Laurie Veldheer (Millie Dillmount). Thoroughly Modern Millie will be directed by Paper Mill Playhouse Producing Artistic Director Mark S. Hoebee with choreography by Denis Jones. Thoroughly Modern Millie will run at the Millburn, New Jersey, theater from April 10 through May 5, 2013. The official press opening is Sunday, April 14, at 7:00pm. (more...)

Glee-Cap: Girls (and Boys) on Film.

Tonight's Glee and the recent Oscars have a lot in common, actually. No, Seth McFarland isn't going to come sing a song about boobs.. well, not yet. But, tonight's Glee celebrates the magic of music from the movies - how songs can turn a simple moment be it happy or sad into magic. Join us as Glee celebrates the movies, and their 500th musical number. As Daddy Warbucks said in Annie - 'Let's go to the movies'. Will dreams of a Fred-Ginger number between himself and Emma ('You're All The World To Me') and proposes the idea of a movie/mash up theme to the glee club along with the annual boys vs girls competition. Finn attempts to help Will find Emma, but Will is more focused on spending time with good movies than focusing on his runaway bride. After checking in with Sue, which results in no help whatsoever, Finn teams with Artie for some tips on how to find Emma, thus prompting Finn to go check out Emma's parents. Brittany and Blaine propose a non-competition number, and kicks off Movie week with 'Shout' from Animal House. (more...)

Happy Birthday, Megan Hilty! Hilty is best known for her for role on Smash and her portrayal of Lorelei Lee, the diamond-loving blonde made famous by Carol Channing, in the New York City Center Encores! production of Gentlemen Prefer Blondes; Doralee Rhodes in Broadway's 9 to 5: The Musical (earning nominations for Lead Actress in a Musical from the Drama Desk Awards, among others); and more. Callan Bergmann Returns to SILENCE! THE MUSICAL, 4/13

Beginning this Saturday, April 13th, original cast member Callan Bergmann will return to the cast of Off-Broadway's smash hit SILENCE! The Musical as Dream Hannibal. Following the announcement that SILENCE! would be ending its long run at the end of 2012, ticket sales unexpectedly soared, shattering all previous box office records held by the show. Subsequently, the producers determined that the production would reopen on January 19th. After opening initially at Theatre 80 on July 9, 2011 to unanimous rave reviews, SILENCE! was extended numerous times by popular demand and transferred theatres twice, ultimately landing at the new Elektra Theatre in Times Square which was constructed especially for the show.
