Playwrights Horizons presents Far From Heaven, a new musical with book by Tony Award winner and two-time Pulitzer Prize finalist Richard Greenberg (Take Me Out, Three Days of Rain, the current Breakfast at Tiffany's and The Assembled Parties both now on Broadway), music by Tony Award nominee Scott Frankel (Grey Gardens at PH and on Broadway, Finding Neverland) and lyrics by Tony Award nominee Michael Korie (Grey Gardens at PH and on Broadway, The Grapes of Wrath, Finding Neverland). The musical is choreographed by Alex Sanchez (Giant, Fiorello!) and directed by three-time Tony Award nominee Michael Greif (Grey Gardens at PH and on Broadway; Rent, Next to Normal, Giant). The musical is based on the Focus Features/Vulcan Productions motion picture Far From Heaven, written and directed by Todd Haynes. (more...)

The show is created and hosted by Ben Cameron (Bway Wicked, Aida and Footloose) and features musical director Joshua Stephen Kartes on piano. RuPaul's Drag Race favorite Jinkx Monsoon makes her New York debut with the premiere of THE VAUDEVILLIANS, a musical comedy show co-starring composer and musician Richard Andriessen. THE VAUDEVILLIANS will be at The Laurie Beechman Theater (inside West Bank Cafe at 407 West 42nd Street -- at Ninth Avenue, accessible from the A,C,E,N,R,V,F,1,2,3 trains at 42nd Street). (NYSE: HOT) today announced that together with its owner and developer partners, it has invested more than $400 million to revitalize its New York City portfolio of hotels. Newly renovated properties include the Sheraton brand's flagship hotel - Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel, W New York - Times Square, W New York - Union Square, W New York, The Westin New York at Times Square and The Westin New York Grand Central. Starwood has also enhanced its New York City portfolio with the addition of several new properties in the past three years including The Chatwal, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Sheraton Tribeca New York Hotel, and W New York - Downtown. All nine of Starwood's distinctive global brands are represented in New York City, where the company boasts a total portfolio of 21 hotels. (more...)

Making Books Sing and New York Public Library to Present MY CITY PARK, Summer 2013

The New York Public Library will present Making Books Sing's new touring production My City Park, for children ages 3-10. When Milo finds out that his favorite city park is going to be torn down and replaced with a shopping mall, he seeks out the help of his two best friends, Odessa the Owl and Bucky the Squirrel. This 45-minute educational performance, written by Brooke Boertzel and Melissa Gordon of Making Books Sing's Education Department, features puppetry, original songs, and audience participation.
