Stranger Productions Presents MONEY, Beginning 5/31

Stranger Productions presents the 50th Anniversary production of MONEY, a musical with book and lyrics by David Axlerod and Tom Whedon, and music by Sam Pottle. This is the first professional NYC production ofMONEY since its 1963 premiere at the Upstairs at the Downstairs, a bistro/theatre on W. 56th St. that, with MONEY, added scripted musicals to what had previously been a steady performance diet of revues and cabaret presentations. This first production ran for a solid 214 performances. Gerald Moshell directs a cast of four, including Robin Rightmyer, Meg Kiley Smith, David Andrew Laws and Logan Keeler. MONEY will run at the Studio Theatre on Theatre Row, 410 West 42nd Street, NYC for fifteen performances from May 31-June 16, 2013. (more...)

MCC Theater Youth Company Announces UNCENSORED 2013, 5/13

MCC THEATER (Robert LuPone, Bernard Telsey, William Cantler, Artistic Directors; Blake West, Executive Director) have announced plans for its annual UnCensored, an evening of original monologues, scenes, music, and ensemble pieces written and performed by the MCC Theater Youth Company, a free, after-school program of New York City high school students interested in exploring self-expression and developing their acting and dramatic writing skills. RuPaul's Drag Race favorite Jinkx Monsoon makes her New York debut with the premiere of THE VAUDEVILLIANS, a musical comedy show co-starring composer and musician Richard Andriessen. THE VAUDEVILLIANS will be at The Laurie Beechman Theater (inside West Bank Cafe at 407 West 42nd Street -- at Ninth Avenue, accessible from the A,C,E,N,R,V,F,1,2,3 trains at 42nd Street). This past weekend, SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark hosted a special Mother's Day themed Everyday Hero, this time honoring Cathy Fritea, a mother who lost her first-born son. Out of her grief, she started the Angels Fund charity, which helps comfort grieving parents who have lost a child.
